I finally have got the time to really play this great module but I was wondering when does the magic and armor shop open ( also the copper tankard tavern)? Do you have to be a certain level or is there a certain time.
Thanks in advance ( I got to go give my daughter a bath but I really want to explore some more before I actually go under ground).
..... I just though of 2 other things. I hired cookie and some thief killed him. Is there any place to resurrect him or his he gone for good. The other thing is what level would you recommend going to the haunted isle? Cookie and I went there and I could not touch anything. ( he was holding his own though I'm a 7nth level monk)
Thanks in advance!!!

Welcome aboard toot!

When I first played I spent ages on the surrounds rather than brave the dungeon too. Have you explored the 1 and 2 nd level upstairs of the yawning portal tavern? also the basement is a great starter area to explore. If you find any catnip Choc is always grateful

When cookie dies you can find him back in the yawning portal. many of the shops in water deep are not open 'under development' try again in a few months!. But one place worth visiting in waterdeep is the libary of Ohgama, It contains a nice item for a monk and security is very lax :hee:

Welcome too.

Other good "starter" areas are the Tradeway and Tradeway North but do take any warnings about Trolls seriously!

As to the Haunted Isle, I would reckon lvl 15 and up has a reasonable chance with most of the monsters there.

Try selling something to Durnan in the Inn. Many players unload loot there and you can often find some very helpful items amongst the stuff Durnan has bought. Not many bargains though.

some billionares are willing to lend a hand in terms or donation or weapons they dont really need

I myself have helped dropped a million gold here and there to help low level peeps get decent stuff.

I still say that the Tradeway is a bit tough for low level characters (see post) the other points raised are true. Dont mess with the haunted isle until at least level 15!

Toot - give a shout out when you log on and many players will gladly lend a hand or invite you into their party to give you an XP boost or even pass along some useful items. I am still relatively new on EFU (and NWN) and have found the folks who play EFU to be extremely friendly, knowledgable and most of all very helpful.

Will give a shout if I see you on, I appreciated it when people gave me a hand first starting, a lot of it is just knowing where to go to get off to a good start.

p.s. to Wellard - shame on you...we all know Cookie is a girl, even if you don't fancy her there's no need to be so rude.

Hello toot! I saw Hop Sing on the other day. Welcome aboard!

I found my enjoyment of the Haunted Isle does sometimes depend on level and type of character you have. I've taken a 15-20 level cleric in and had a blast, but the crypt was impossible alone...well, without a continuous respawn-fest, that is! Later, though, she had no problems with either of the big baddies there, on her own. Ahem, by which I mean she only respawned a few times...

My other chars have done it with company, which is really a fun way to do just about anything in Undermountain if you're in a sociable mood!

I take new chars through the inn, into Waterdeep and the tradeway area and then usually to the first level or so of the Undermountain to get their proverbial feet wet, as it were. Teaming up is a good way to do some quests farther down and often a good way for new characters to survive long enough to get to the lower levels, LOL, but remember that if you have a low level char and pair up with high levels they will bring the xp level down for the lighter weight bad guys (lighter for them, not so light for your new pc! ). Still, some days you won't really care about that so much as actually making it PAST that nasty minotaur and rust monster or a few bone golems and high level wizards here and there.
