Are you having some problems with NWN Gold and XP, or just making a prediction?
Both! I speak from Personal experience!

Also, complaints may well rise in number as things are 'unfair', there'll be people abusing exploits, player counts might well drop.
If no care is taken, the players' increased complaints born of greater interest in the safety of their non-expendable characters could well lead to an attempt at running the server democratically which always ends in trouble as players don't know what they want but do know whatever they have now isn't quite it.
Whackmeister's bang on target too.

The question is, are the benefits worth it?
That depends a lot on the mod.
In the case of EfU, I'd say no, they're not.
It needs too many changes to work smoothly under SV.
And with weaker monsters, fewer magic items and whatnot else, Undermountain wouldn't be the same.

Just my opinion based on about a year's worth of NWN experiences.
Nice to see that SOMEONE agrees with me.

I wouldn't mind seeing EFU changed to a server vault myself. I think I'm with most here when I say I'm fed up with the munchkins with 400 dmg weapons. But then I'm not sure if my opinion counts towards much I'm rarely in the EFU lately

I know I'm making it sound bad
I'm a server vault player myself, I'd pick those over LV almost any day.

And that's not just because I get to keep my character between sessions; it's because there's a world of difference in the ways the servers work.

If you manage to succesfully pull the switch off, all the more power to you. However, getting it all right is a task you shouldn't underestimate (especially in a combat heavy module).
I've seen plenty of mods specifically designed for servervault which are still struggling with balance issues after months and months of designing, playtesting and going beta.

EfU does have one advantage here, and that's the no pvp setting. It saves you many, many headaches.
Until rogues start muttering their pickpocket skills are useless anyway

Server Vault is IMHO best. New characters could get, say, 10000 xp at startup so they wouldn't have to start at level 1...

Yeah Im more for characters starting at say level 7 when you start up EFU. Give them a little bit of gold for some basic items and maybe set up a few small quests inside the Inn for them to earn some more cash.

What does everyone else think ?

Thats a good idea, though there are some quests in the Inn already. Higher then decent xp for low lvls too. (getting 900 xp or so for giving a down on their luck begger etc)

I wouldn't mind seeing something like a 'challenge the archer' game like darts or something. Could have the pc and npc both roll a D20+ you dex mod and the highest wins a round. It'd need some scripting but then most stuff does.

Server Vault is definitely the way to go if you want to build up a new character... but for those of us who have characters we don't want to build from scratch... there is the option of just stripping equipment from that user as part of the mod entry script if it's decided to still keep it on Local Vault.

I just finished watching the LOTR Return of the King on DVD... man, I feel like a good battlefield romp against Orcs and Trolls...

Everybody is worrying about things that Ziroc loves doing. He started this Mod Months before NWN was even on the shelves. The fact that something that is hard for most seem to be his nich in life. Don't worry gang he's been modding and designing long enough that Bioware stole his Ideas in order to develop the last expansion Hordes of the Underdark. I've come to admire his work and have complete confidence in the MOD how ever and what ever he does to it and like always if something doesn't work right he'll fix it so it does. Like alot of us, we stick around just to see what he'll come up with next. And one other thing Ziroc only put the EfU up for us to fool around with and play test while he builds it in his spare time. Some day in the not to far future He will finish the main portion of EfU or should I say part one and at that time he will fill the MOD with quests and adventuers for us to Role Play as a single player expansion to the main game which he had planned to do from day one.
AS I said the only reason the MOD is even open is because we about drove him crazy with requests to let us play on it. He finally loaded the first few levels with monsters to fight and would put it up on line every other week end or maybe he would play dungeon master and drop monsters in our way as we walked along and then he would shut it off and build another level and when it was ready he would let us play test the next level he had built until finally a year ago he had enough levels that were complete that he put it up 24/7 for us to play on until the day that MOD 1 Escape from Undermountain is complete with all its bells and and bobbles.

Right now 81% want A server Vault and if it doesn't work he'll change it back so, everbody relax! The best part is still to come, just hang around and enjoy the ride and make sure you hold on tight it's going to be a wild one.
