Another question (hotU) spoilers.

I have got the mirror and went to try to give it to the elder brain after striking up "the deal", but when i return to the portal to take me back into the grand room( or whatever it is called), all i get is a message saying that "nothing appears to happen". Am I supposed to return the mirror elsewhere? I checked my journal but could not see any mention of where to take the mirror. Spoil me please.

Aside from trading it to the Elder Brain, I believe you can also elect to simply keep it for yourself.

What do you mean by the "grand room"? The room that the Elder Brain is in? Did you go there first and make the deal before retrieving the mirror? I always got the mirror first.

I suppose that if you've already made the deal, then perhaps you need to talk to one of the other Illithids hanging around in Brainville? I seem to recall that there's one named Ulitharid, in particular, who guards the way down to the Elder Brain, perhaps you need to talk to him? It's the best idea I can come up with.

Unfortunately all beings on the surface are dead, did not get the chance to strike up a conversation in the first instance without being attacked, so everything apart from the elder brain is dead. And yeah, I mean the elder brains lair which you have to teleport down to and I made the deal without the mirror in my possession, so went and got it before returning.

You can't visit the EB without the presence of that Ulitharid, I believe. Any idea why you got attacked? Did you show up without your brain-protectin' helmet?

If yes, I'd suggest loading back to just before you entered the town, putting on your fancy new hat and then wandering in.
