I may be giving away some spoilers here, but I ask that any replies have no spoilers in them for me.

I got to Durlag's Tower yesterday and was given the wardstone to continue on. The Demonknight came, attacked with 2 massive fireballs, and then left. I went down and I believe down again till I met an adventurer that was part of the party of Delton (sp??), who I am supposed to rescue. Anyway, I moved on to the part with the watchers that need to be awakened, and I've realized that I can't do much about traps. In my party I have:

PC Ranger: Level 7, 101 HP.
Minsc: Level 7, 74 HP.
Imoen: Level 8, 58 HP.
Dynaheir: Level 8, 45 HP.
Jaheira: Level 6 Fighter/7 Druid, 63 HP. She is close to leveling up in fighter.
Khalid: Level 7, 86 HP.

Imoen has 100% Open Locks, 100% Stealth, 40% Find/disarm traps, and 25% pick pockets. She will level up in 7,000 XP for me to boost her find/disarm traps up to 60%, but right now, she can't really find many traps, and even if she does, she can't disarm them. I have a few potions of power, but drinking them will only boost it up to 46%, and the potions are not cumulative with one another. I've noticed that most of the traps are fire traps, but I have no more fire resistance potions left, although Jaheira can cast some from levels 2 and 3 of her Druid Spells. The traps are shutting down my party, and although I am yet to die, I have come very close, close as in having my PC down to 2 or 3 HP while being poisoned, only to be saved just in time by an elixer. I stocked up on elixers and potions of healing, Jaheira can cast 6 heals, and my PC can cast 2 heals. It's not enough though, cuz I'm getting beaten terribly by these traps.
I'm experienced in running this party as I've used this party twice before (I'm just experiencing them through ToTSC for the first time), so any help (with out spoilers about Durlag's Tower) is appreciated on how to pass these traps.

Well, I found a temporary solution for now. I had my ranger drink a potion of absorption and had Jaheira cast fire resistance on him. Then he hid in shadows and went along killing everything singlehandedly, while having Imoen open locks while he took the damage (basically took no damage, the resistances really helped). However, this won't work for the whole dungeon.

Where are you in the game? I did the tower late in the game the second time thru(because I couldn't beat it the first time) and I still had to use my main tank at times to do traps. Yes,,it means more saving and resting,, but you learn from the game that you *really* need a specialist thief.
AAMOF the BG1/TotSC almost *requires* a thief in the party,,, though I believe the game can be won solo by a powergamer.

Imoen leveled up and has 60% find/disarm traps, so she managed to disarm a few traps. I also had her switch boots with Khalid for the boots of grounding for 50% electrical resistance for the traps that are set off. Also, I found a potion of perception (I never brought any with me, bad mistake), so I can use that incase I need to.

Just managed to finish the first floor and defeat the 4 warders, however, on the southern part of the level, one of the traps that are set off acts like a call lightning spell. That spell doesn't work indoors, but this one does...why?

i've done durlag's with a solo ranger (using tutu) and there was no real way round it other than an unrealistic ammount of resting - not very satisfying but do-able

Because your in a strange tower, which has never been conquered before, and is ancient. They just had to throw in a few special things, you should be able to deal with it though since you are an experienced adventurer of the Sword Coast, and have come to rid the tower of its evil.

When I conquered Durlag's Tower for the first and only time, I had Safana in my party for thieving and for the most part, had little trouble with traps.
Potions of master thievery should help if you have any or get access to some. There may be some lying around too. Leaving your journey to Durlag's fairly late on in the game to max out XP and thieving percentages helps too. I found out this the hard way, as my first attempts to make way through the ancienty devirly and traps at about level 5 were in vain!
Also, when in doubt, try using your buffed up tanks to set them off or at least find out where to avoid them.
Although, I used Kagain for that whose con of 20 helps somewhat in resisting damage.

Enjoy the challenges of Durlag's Tower! Its definitely one of my favourite dungeons in the entire series.

I'm somewhere on the floor after the warders right now and Imoen is doing better with traps. She has 60%, the potion of perception can take her to 80%, and drinking a potion of power on top of that takes her to 90%. There seem to be lots of traps that 80% just won't do.

Potions of Master Thievery don't add to the find/disarm traps part. I already have like, 8 of those on me right now.

Yeh, I made sure I stocked up on potions of perception before I went in, so I could have 120%+ on it. The guy outside Durlags sells them.

Well then, there's my problem. I bought out the store at the Ulgoth's Beard Inn, and next thing I knew, I tried to buy a healing potion and it said that I didn't have enough gold! I actually kinda laughed, cuz I didn't even realize it. I usually stock up a lot on gold, but I didn't really bother this time. So I was limited to just buying some healing potions. Actually, I kinda like it now with no gold, but I'm up a little after roaming around Durlag's Tower, so I guess it's back out to buy some of those potions of perception.
