The whole thing boils down to "If you think it is legal, the you have the right to do as you see fit for your life, but do not mention this online in our forum. It is kinda like the word F***. Alot of people use it in their homes, but here...it cannot be uttered.

Ok I don't mean to be a pain but is swearing not allowed here anymore at all? In the rules it has always been said that it is...just in proper moderation. Being Irish I casually cuss quite a bit and sometimes may utter a swear word or two whilst expressing frustration etc. here on the forums. It is never directed at any one person or in any way made to be an attack, rather an expression so IMHO I adhere to the rules about it...

P.s. The CD-crack the Z refers to is that which allows one to run a game without using the CD itself, I think it was mostly intergrated as there was a big problem with BG2 (if I remember correctly) where some games would not run without this.

OK this is to everyone.

From time to time you need to go back and reread the rules for this site. The last time they were updated according to the rule page is January 5th 2003. I am guilty about not doing this myself. Who wants to reread the rules? Heck who really wanted to read them the first time? Ziroc does put this neat blinky new text in front of the ones that has changed so it does make it easier.

In this case the rules state

Be Clean: Adhere to decency and refrain from abusive or hateful language, while cussing isn't censored, please don't direct the words towards someone in a hateful or demeaning way. Also, Cussing 'just to be cussing' will land you with an account suspension if it becomes too much. Also, don't put an expletive in the title of your post. It will be deleted.

This of course is left up to the moderator's discretion. Each moderator has their own threshold of what is OK. So far I have never seen a moderator in this forum do anything about a word here or there but I have also never seen anyone posting that went George Carlin with a post.

Also NWN had the same issue with the CDROM. Look in C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\ NWNv128.txt. Search for 1.23. You will notice it says “- We have removed SecureROM disk checking.” No they never learn. I hope it is not an issue with SoU.

Just a bit about the cussing thing...althoguh Ziroc has not put it into the TOS, he made a post in GenCon a while back when we were having problems with one member...and this is why there are TWO curses not allowed on Ironworks.

Spiritwarrior...I do not know HOW you got the idea that I said "no cussing". I spelled the beginnning of only one word!

To be specific as possible...these are the 2 words that I will delete from your post if I see them, and give you two warnings on.

They are...
1. F**k
2. God D**n

Those are the only two curses not allowed. If I have to, I will find the rule for you where Ziroc himself has stated this. It may have been insituted by Cloudbringer, however. Not sure.

Now...PLEASE! Get back on TOPIC! Please, please please!

Granamere, most of us do read the rules from time to time and I (of course) did before I asked this question of Larry in order to see if there was something I was missing. It is a good idea to start the habit of checking periodically as there was a time (I don't think you were around then) when the rules were subject to change or fine-tuning alot more frequently.

Larry, I had no definite impression of what you were referring to thats why I asked in order to discover what does and does not go. I found it kinda confusing that some swear words were allowed and other were not so this is why I assumed you meant swearing as a whole. I will say it is a bit misleading that no-one has publicly forbidden these two words in the rules - well from what I could find under the swearing section that is, but I guess in that case a person would not be banned for making the mistake since he/she did not know or see it immediately written somewhere (since you say it might be in a thread). Don't think I have ever used the F word here..no need to. Hey, thanks for clearing it up and yes I agree, back to topic!
