What harms Aec'Letec?--SPOILS

Yes I have read the archives. I have applied the tactics. I can kill the cultists. I pin down Letec with summons, then I pound at him with ranged weapons, which don't seem to harm him much. If I use arrows of detonation, that just kills the summons too, allowing him to break free of the encirclement, to munch on us. Three of my party members are clerics or cleric hybrids(Branwen, Yeslick, and Quayle) so are limited to slings. What quality of weapon/ammo harms Letec? I am playing this fight at the lowest difficulty level and cannot even get him to "yellow". My party is about as high as you can get playing the game straight. My mage(me) is only Level 8 and can't cast Cloudkill, which eliminates that cheese. Any help GREATLY appreciated.

IIRC the wand of heavens (or something like that -the cleric wand) is able to do damage to this monster. I think magic weapons are usable too.

Anyway I use to go the cheasy way with cloud kill, so I am not 100% sure.

well...+2 arrows and +2 sling bullets should hurt him, as well as any +2(probably even just +1) weapons can do the damage. I think the problem is the strength level of your party. Let eveyone drink potion of heroism, rasing their strength and haste everyone...that should get the job done.

*btw, get an enemy to be "yellow circled" doesn't mean he's seriously injured or near death, it means that he's panic or moral failure. In original BG/ToSC, unlike in SoA, you cannot really tell the injury status of the enemy. (that adds another pleasure to play BGT )

I found the spell vampiric touch useful if you can beat his magic resistance.

Ajantis did 9-18 damage with +1 arrows, the Gauntlets of Archery, and Longbow of Marksmanship. He had 17 strength, so those with High Strength definitely help.

Got 'im. I went in, killed the cultists, threw summons at him, pounded him with missles and spells,,,,then had to flee upstairs when the arrows of dispelling ran out(have to use them to counter the gaze attack). I rested up, buffed up, went back downstairs and threw my 3 tanks at him in melee, had my 3 weakies missle him...he was toast in 3-4 rounds. I guess he doesn't heal up when you leave!

don't need to run up and downstairs...potion of mirrored eyes or protection from paralyzation spell will protect you from his gaze attack.

AFAIK he does heal when you rest... though not as much as you do.
