This is a funny one - I played multi for the first time tonight and I felt guilty running for the loot - I felt like some kind of sneak, especially since I'm playing a neutral good ranger.
How do you guys split the loot in a multiplayer party? |

BTW...it would be nice to hear some details of your prior arrangements, etc - or whether it's a freeforall once the villain's been dispatched.

I met a nice person and we shared things according to need. As for quest items, we are going to do it where he hands in two reagents and i hand in two, since the person handing it in gets 500 gold from aribeth, However, if one of us needs something (Like i wanted a "periapt of wisdom") we will pool money to give to who needs. the person who has tomi as his henchman seems to get more. It is a bit upsetting tho when it looks like the one person keeps looting everything, if there are 4 boxes to open we go two apiece.

i play to where if you kill it, you keep what it has. if you pick the lock or trap, then its yours. of course, if you are a thief wielding a rapier, and you have a half-orc barbarian in your group, wielding a greataxe, all magical greataxes go to him. spells, and wizard items go to wizards, etc. you keep what you want from what you earn, and the others go to the rest.

lol, i feel guilty grabbing the contents of of a loot bag sometimes too.
its usually finders keepers in most multiplayer games ive been in, but if i find a class specific item i'll offer it to someone in the game with the same class. quest items...i'm still not sure how to divide these up, people usually try to grab them but in a few games ive been in, the party leader handles all the quest items. overall, finders keepers...i wish it was different, though |

gold seems to be pretty meaningless in multiplayer outside the main campaign... at least in the mods I've played. Finders, keepers.
magical items of note I think should be given to those who can use them. It's logical and benefits the party as a whole. When I do adventure with friends I generally announce what's in the boxes. If I am online with randoms, I generally grab the "nothing special" items.

This could be a bit of a spoiler for those who haven't used the toolset, so if you don't want to read about treasure generation please skip.
* * * S P O I L E R * * * There are scripts for generating treasure based on class and weapon focus, so if it's a trapped and locked chest I prefer letting someone who doesn't have a named weapon or class specific item open those ones. Otherwise it's on whose got inventory room and strengh since we will sell and pool the gold. * E N D * S P O I L E R * |
