Hmm...
1.6 GHz P4
256 MB SDRAM
64 MB nVidia GeForce 2
WinXP
56k modem ( Seems to work fine so far, though, for the one mplayer I've tried, although that was just logging on for a moment to the Undermountain server, so it's not a very accurate geenral representation )

1700+ mp Athlon clocked a little high
Ultra160 Scsi bus for DVD-CD and IBM 10k 4mb buffer drives
512 mb PC2700 (one chip) DDR-RAM ( max 3gb )
SB Live Dolby 5.2 with Cambridge Sound works ( 5 piece surround package)
TNT2 Ultra 32 mb ( don't laugh it paid for -- this will be replaced by geforce4 4200 )
ZOLTRIX 56k/v.90 modem( I live in Napa Valley, so at least I can drink my self silly every time they tell me I can't have DSL.

With high detail at 1028x768 the game only drags on very large maps like city center.

I imagine that is the vid card rearing its dated poly-count challenged head.

P4 1.9
512 RDRAM
SoundBlaster Live 5.1
GeForce 4 Ti 4600

All options set to high at 1024x768 and it runs pretty smooth.

Current system:

P3 667
Intel D815 mobo w/ on board sound
GeForce4 Ti 4400
Win 98SE
384M ram

Ever since I installed the new mobo and got rid of the creative sound card, if have not had any system lock ups on any games.

GeForce 3 Ti 64 MB
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound card

I'm having really good luck with the game so far, other than it being a little boring in places...Got it cranked up so tight that I can see the grass blowing in the wind...

My specs:

Athlon XP 1800+
512MB 266DDR
GF3 Ti500
SB Live! Gamer
2 WD80GB HD's in Raid 0
Windows XP Pro
Cable Modem

Under XP you really should have 256MB system and 64MB video memory if you want all the goodies. This game looks awesome! I'm running 1024 by 768 with AA at 4x and wow! The level of detail is amazing. You can actually see smoke coming of the torch that your holding and the shadows look incredible!
Back to topic here. Memnoch, try running it on your system as is under compatibility mode for 98 and turn off visual styles. That should free up some resources that XP is hogging and maybe give you a few more frames. I haven't tried that as I have no need but it would be interesting to know if compatibility mode actually works and isn't some piece of fluff to make consumers feel more at ease.

Athlon T-bird 750mhz
256 MB of Ram
Elsa Gladiac MX200 32MB SDR
SBLive!
56k Phoebe modem (external)

Video gets choppy with scenes with many things going on,but that has only happened in one place so far,so I think I am doing just fine.
