Try bashing the lock - this can set off traps, otherwise reload the game, leave this chest alone and save before you try others.

Anyone know of any other solution?

What about jammed doors? I jammed the door in the litch's study after my rogue tried unsuccessfully to pick it. Suggestions?

Have you gotten the key from Adrianna?? Her key is for that lock (in the study) Maybe it will still work.

There is no trap on that door so you can bash it. There is some treasure but nothing totally outstanding.

The only good thing about jammed locks is that they wont stop yoiu from getting anything essential to the game, and from what i remember i only encountered them in skull castle, shurugeon and The crypt

Lockpicks also work on jammed locks. Make sure the lockpick level + your skill in T&L equals or exceeds the lock level.

Thanks for the help! Yes, I think I do in fact have the key. Been lugging it around for ages (if you can "lug" a key) without actually using it. Live and learn. Actually, finished the game quite a while ago, and now just wander around the Gael Serran every now and then when I'm bored, peeping into the little details I missed the first time arround. Not enough time has passed (to my taste) to replay from the beginning. But I will soon. Actually, just killing time till the mythic advent of Wiz 8.
