This included, a heavy reputation penalty, and of course...

Given that he's an "innocent," of course he has a reputation penalty.

Equally however, they DID script him to drop one of the best items in the game, and allowed for 26,ooo experience points to be allocated to his conquerers.

He's Chaotic Good but drops a Robe of Neutral Arch-Magi. What kind of weird treasure is that? Did somebody fall asleep assigning items to this guy? Or maybe he was just doing laundry for Radagast the Brown.

I don't care if you kill him; it's not about that. I just think his stats are so heavily unnatural it seems he's not, strictly speaking, set up as a "real" opponent - just some bizarre guy that takes special tactics to murder. Such beings are very bleh, IMO. Equal opportunity murder, I say!

I based my assumption of, "not being able to beat the game by soloing a single-classed mage". . .
Now when I stop and think about the possible solutions that could be applied to these aforementioned obstacles, the undertaking of such a task still seems to be ridiculously difficult and time-consuming.

Well, for me, soloing a little mage took a lot of patience because most early combat depended on run'n'gun sling battles. It goes a lot faster once the mage can cast a decent number of spells per day and has a good arsenal to choose from. Invisibility and Mirror Image are highly (ab)useful, too.

Good point!

I didn't really think about it in that light.

I suppose it's because he comes across as more than your average "innocent" commoner, more specifically, one who can annihilate you and your party when provoked!

I'm sure that you do not want to continue argueing about him being a "legitimate" target in the game, so I'll say my piece and let you have the last word if you like.

I would still venture to say that the game designers created him as a target for those who are either, "greedy power-gamers", or those who are running an "evil campaign".

For a party such as those, he could definetly be considered a "means" to their prospective "ends", IMO.

And like you said, an "equal opportunity murder".

Seeming as how somebody brought up AO, I have question........WHO IS THIS PERSON?! He was mentioned in Dezkiel's scroll, however nothing was said about this person/being/entity after that.

Oh, and by the way...I LOVE THIS FORUM!

Ao, the Overfather, is the Grand Poo-Bah of the entire Forgotten Realms pantheon. His "duties" include overseeing the cosmic balance and the creation / destruction of deities. Folks like Bhaal, Helm, and Oghma are just small potatoes.

First of all:

Welcome to Ironworks, IT Loyalist!

The Ice dungeon really is a bit like that movie. Everything is full of traps, you don't know what kind of dangers awaits in the next room and everything is blue (walls, floor etc.). Anyway, it's one of my favorite areas in the game.

Ok, now im annoyed. Who is Shandalar? I just read about him the other day, and seem to remember him to be a "celebertie" of the Forgotten Realms.

He's a mage in Ulgoth's Beard (TotSC area). He has a quest for you and if you accept he teleports you to a cool place. I won't say more so that I don't spoil anyone.
