Hopefully you have a save just prior to entering town on that occasion. Enter merchant guild with your ninja highlighted. As soon as the shopkeeper says something about the dagger, open the ninja's inventory and move the dagger to another character. The ninja will still become an assassin and have the dagger too. Don't know if this works with the patch installed however.

Well, you just proved you don't have the patch installed if the repeat experience reward bug is pumping you up.

I had the assasin's dagger which I equipped on my ninja and entered the Merchant Shop. He trained me and stole the dagger!!! Is there anyway to get this back. It was a damn good dagger.

Also after you finish all the quests for the temple in Ishad'n'ha you can keep going in there and getting 750 exp for the last quest you did which was delivering the letter to that wandering guy. I had changed my priest to a monk, and got him up to level 6 just sitting in her clicking between him and my Paladin.

Nope, doesn't work with the patch.
Yes, you always loose quest items when you finish the quest (unless you use elara's cheat). Problem with the assassin dagger is you didn't know it was a quest item. I think being an assassin is better than having the dagger though. You can prevent loosing the dagger by turning down the offer for being an assassin, but you won't be offered it again with that character.
