~To Ravensong..LOL did I step on your toe or something....~

Not at all Junk!

Just want to let people know that there are alot of other bugs besides quest type bugs. Like alot of bugs, they don't hit everyone. Some people get off scot-free and others can barely play the game for 10 minutes without a crash and burn. My WW experience falls very close to the latter. Personally, I wouldn't have bought the game if I knew it was this shaky. If a few people that feel the same way as me DON"T buy it cuz I bitched about it, maybe they will do a little more beta testing on thier next project, rather than just pushing it out the door. To me a game with this many problems shows a great lack of respect towards the consumer, something that simply isn't acceptable for something that costs $50 and can't be returned.

Has anyone here downloaded the AlicePC.mpeg demo yet? It epitomizes brilliance, in this reviewers mind. Especially the first 33 seconds.. have to love that music! That's what I'm on about! NO industrial, no techno, no fast drum-based kill-music.....no teeny-boppy fast Quake 3 frag music.. just the music box. Yes!

I guess I do do a bit of cash and carry but except for the Stout Mines I have never cruised around going "I'm rich, wahoo". This game appeals to me in the character development in a way MM never did (although I praise any game that give me a gender choice). I love MM6 and was very excited MM7 but it ground to a halt for me after the caverns of medusas and behemoths then to be dumped out into titan and demon Hell with a puny blaster (I don't want tech in my fantasy; although I will take any in Resident Evil (nintendo) what a nice stress buster but WP with that rumble pack). For some reason I really like the character develop in this one. I can see my characters as breathing (I am not scaring you, am I?). I haven't had bugs accept for the stuck toad and barrel ballet and those slimey slipper ladders that OSHA would fine them for. I am not trying to rush through this game and will probably play it several times more. With such a diverse group of players those game companies are sure to get someone's money. I would like the ability to strategically position my characters but still maintain first person view. How's that for greedy?

I have to agree, the journal feature is nice. The MM games also had one, but there were so many pages and sections that remembering exactly which page had the info you wanted was a pain. Also (being a bit nostalgic here) I liked how MM made references to other science fiction & fantasy stuff. The Star Trek reference in one of the early games, 1701, was the answer to a puzzle. And you can recognize some names of the masters as comic book/sci fi characters. For example, there was a Master who lived in Wayne Manor for martial arts in one of the more recent games (Batman, anyone?)

W&W does have it's moments, though. Like when you run into 2 Highland Raiders and their default phrase is "Drop your weapons, you're outnumbered" and there are 6 people in your group. Ok, so I have a weird sense of humor.

Actually, emilyh, my favourite are the lines from the Serpent temple priests, especially the one that goes something like:

"Infidels! The unrighteous shall die a quick death - ARRRRREAGGHGHHHHHHHHHH!" (the last bit being the sound of the "righteous" serpent cultist being killed by my "unrighteous" party).

Anyway, back to the topic: I've played all the M&M RPGs since World of Xeen - and my verdict is that I FAR prefer W&W. Long live Wizards & Warriors!

In comparing W&W to M&M, there are three things I miss about the latter (and wish would be imported): the sassy comments (which at least gave the characters some character -- I've got a good imagination but my characters still don't have any real spunk to them), a REAL working quest journal (the W&W journal only lists quests given by townspeople), and the fly spell (that would take care of those amazoni mantraps playing chicken outside town). Okay, and it was fun choosing between good and evil in M&M7. But I like some of the spells in this game, and the career choices.

Yes! Fly and town portal would rock in this game! Not to mention clairvoyance. Those water fountains are annoying as heck.

I like long games as this, the caracters are fun, the quests are OK, but the store keepers spend way tooooomuch time talking. did I say talking?, I mean writting. The worst part is that It freases too much. Give me M&M 6 anytime. The grafics are so and so, it could be much better. I`ll give this game 5.

I've had a Love-Hate relationship with this game, during which I deleted the game and re-installed it - twice. :} Now I like it, and have gotten past some of the spots I kept getting killed in (the Toadem area, for one)

Having played ALL the Might & Magic games since The World Of Xeen series, and virtually every First-Person RPG ever MADE, I have to admit, this game has a certain charm. There are some things I don't like about it - especially the fact that you can't rest/sleep/wait till dawn etc. The game makes you stumble around at night, if you're exploring the countryside - BO-RING!! You can't SEE anything at night, so why the rest aspect was left out of the game, I don't know. It's handy to be able to camp or sleep to regain Hit Points & Mana - as in M&M Series (and virtually EVERY other RPG I've ever PLAYED!)

I absolutely loathe third-person RPGs like Baldur's Gate & Diablo. You can't see what you're doing properly, and it's SO much better to be actually IN the game instead of looking at it from above, like a bird.

Anyway, I give Wizards & Warriors an 8 out of 10.
