alright, I have a drow in my party and have been made aware that he needs to go underground in something like 1d6 months or he'll loose his powers. so I have 2 questions:

1)what are these powers?

2)what exactly constitutes going underground, will a cave do or does it have to be underground caverns?

That's the case in the official rules. If Drow stay out of the Underdark for too long, they lose all of their special powers, including Spell Resistance and Spell-like Abilities such as Faery Fire, Levitation and others they might have. This hasn't been implemented into the game however, so no need to worry. Your IWD2-Drow can remain on the surface for practically forever without experiencing any adverse effects. Apart from the normal light sensitivity-penalties of course.

If ALL of the penalties were implemented here, then it would make Drow virtually UNPLAYABLE.

Hmmm... I wonder, if I were to make a drow paladin, and spoke with that character to a NPC with drow and paladin specific replies, which one I would get?
