Here's how I did it. Memorize these spells
-Remove Fear (about 5 to 6 times)
-Magic Missle(couple time as well)
-Disentigrate
-Resilent Sphere thingy
-Some others of your choice
-Summoning spells
Send someone other then mage/cleric to put on the thingy/pillar.Before you put it on,cast as many buffing and summoning spells as possible.Alos cats remove fear.Have you dude put the thing in.The dragon will come.Cast Resilent Sphere on the one dude.Send everything into battle.Make sure you have +3 weapons. After awhile Resilent Sphere will wear off.Cast it again on the dude. The remove fear will also wear off so cast it again also.EVentually it will die. This is how I did it.

The alternative is to kill all the yuan-ti, which I did. I got a lot of items both useful and worth lots of gold if they weren't better than what I already have. Afterwards, you can still attack the guardian. If you attack the guardian first, you can't kill the yuan-ti since the portal will close before you finish. If you do attack the yuan-ti, be sure to take off the initiate robes and put your armor back on.

Did you kill the guardian? If you have, then you need to reload. I mentioned earlier that you kill the yuan-ti before the guardian. Killing the guardian closes the portal soon after it is killed.

If you do fight the guardian again, if you have a bard, the tale of curran strongheart is the song that you get at lv.3 and removes/prevents fear for the duartion of the song. Bards are VERY useful, since their songs are like buffing spells and they can cast both wizard and priest spells as if they were a sorceror (meaning no memorization, just X number of X level spells they can cast), although their selection is limited.

They can also gain rouge skills easier than most characters, can get the lingering song and heroic inspiration feats, and are the only characters able to use musical instruments. The stringless harp is very useful, more useful than the mossy poultice, but your bard needs at least 13 WIS to use it.

does killing the dragon, well, i mean putting all the stele's in there proper places, disable the trap inside the Yuan-ti crypt? More directly the one that crushes you as you go to the left upon entering. If not, could you clear a few things up for me?

Is that true, and does that refer to the portal back to Kuldahar, or the entrance to the Yuan-ti crypt below the guardian? If this is too spoiling, then i don't need to know. It just happens that i am right at this point in the game when this forum arrived. Thanks you all!

Killing the dragon causes the portal back to Kuldahar to collapse! So if you want to get the MOST out of that sequence, clear out the yuan-ti inside the temple first, loot the place and then go upstairs and summon/kill the dragon. Then RUN for the portal. It does not stay open LONG.

And be prepared for a fight when you get back to Kuldahar!!!

The crusing trap is unavoidable. I had one character slightly ahead of the rest who takes the hit as the rest walk by, even though the solid stone blocks are in the way. The crush trap does 30-39 damage (bludgeoning), the fire/acid baths do 1-10 (fire/acid damage), and the annoying sawblades do 1-6 (slashing or peircing, I think) a theif's uncanny dodge ability may be able to avoid the damage (uncanny dodge is gained at higher levels, and every time you are going to be hit by whatever it says when you level up, you have an increased chance of dodging it.)

Exp gained: X amt.
Theif: level up
Theif: gained uncanny dodge (+X chance to dodge X type of damage)

At one point I think a theif gets +2 dodge against traps.
