id like to ask whether anyone has created a party based on tolkiens fellowship of the ring
i have made one, the following :

Aragorn : human ranger
Gimli : shield dwarf fighter
Gandalf : human wizard
Legolas : moon elf fighter
Frodo : Strongfooted halfling
Arwen : Half Elf Selune Priest

i just like to know if someone has a different proposition about tolkiens characters in a party

Thank you

There's already a sizable posting on this very topic.

Dio_j is right. Elrond is half-elven (his ancestory is a bit more complicated than that, but let's just say he's half-elven). And since he fathered Arwen, she is also technically half-elven. However, Elrond and Arwen chose to live the immortal lives of the elves instead of the mortal lives of men and in so doing took on greater characteristics of their elven heritage, so they could also be considered mostly elven making them a viable choice for Moon Elf. Anyway, in my opinion Arwen could be either half-elf or full elf depending on how you want to look at things

I don't know enough about IWD2 to suggest specific classes, but you might want to try to squeeze a few levels of theif onto one of your characters. Could come in handy.

Legolas be closer to a Ranger then a fighter?Because Rangers seem closer to Archers then fighters IMO. And I read somewhere that Aragorn was half elf...

Yes, Aragorn's ancestor (great-great-great-great-great-great-great... etc. grandfather) was Elrond's brother. Basically, Elrond and his brother, Elros, were both half-evlen and given a choice as to which race to belong to. Elrond chose the way of the elves, while Elros chose the way of men. So Aragorn and the other Dunedain/Numenoreans half some elf blood, and that's why they are "cooler" than normal men. Word.

It all depends on what type of archer they are. A ranger would be more a woodsmen who crafts his own weapons, while a fighter/archer would be more of a footsoldier. But I do agree with you, that Legolas is more of ranger than a fighter (IIRC rangers get the ambidexterity feat as a prerequisite), since he is very in-tune with his surroundings.

Since Gandalf is a Maia spirit I'd make him an Aasimar instead of normal human.

I know Aragorn is always said in the books to be a ranger, and he seems to be like a ranger, in his early life, and the first bit of The Fellowship of the Ring, but then he really starts to take on many of the characteristics of a paladin, ie. riding around Middle Earth with his magical sword, rallying people to fight agaisnt Sauron. He also has abilites like lay on hands, and a nice smite evil style of fighting, and some kind of an 'aura' that helps allies to fight off fear (I can't remember the official D&D term for it). So I think he might be more like a paladin than a ranger.
