I have to agree. I recall a battle to get inside of the Mindflayer citadel, and was completely overwhelmed by hordes of thralls. With more luck than wisdom I managed to kill them all, but the only XP I got was a lousy 216 xp for killing the mind flayer. Not a single point of XP for the plusminus 20 thralls. It just doesn't feel right...
Since I'm fighting with a party of only three members, they're all of a relatively high level, but not of one high enough to go through the game easily, far from actually. I got only 800 xp for defeating the Guardian Dragon, for instance...

Well after trying to decipher Imrahil's little equation...(which only tok me 10 minutes)and not understanding some of the...subtle jokes in the other topics, i have come to this agreement. This game does not give out XP after every kill because of the above stated reasons and it is bootleg.
But seriously...I am in the Dragon's Eye (read my other topic and give me help!!!) and my dwarves are on level 13! level 13! it took me 46 load ins to kill the dragon and i only had 2 guys left (my battleguard and mage, how ironic) luckily i had a bag of holding and such...THIS GAME IS HARD *sobs* and i want a BG3...why don't they just make me another god damn BG3 and stop torturing me? i love this game but i also like decimating hordes of goblins, not watching my ass get kicked by stupid lizard men and yuan-tis

3rd Xp system is fair or not that's not the matter! The matter is I'm not enjoying. I slayed all the goblins orcs blah blah and I gain ZERO xp point! I gain only 300 xp for slaying the dragon. The 2nd edition was much better you get the same xp but xp needed for next level was higher. SO there's no big difference you get 420 xp for each ogre. At level 1-2 you can easily level up if you kill 6-7 ogre but at level 15 you still get 420 xp but to level up you have to slay at least 595 or more ogres )

Don't compare 2nd and thied edition in that case. In pen and paper, xp would not be handled that way. It's just the devs that messed this up.

No, in pen and paper, it's not handled the same way. You get xp per encounter. So, yes, 100 seperate orcs might be little for a level 10 party, but the 100 of them at the same time might give you lots of xp.

Also, no DM would make you fight monsters that would give you litle to no xp.
