Just a strange thought from the RP point of view:

Ulbrecs wife "SELLS" a dagger that slays Goblin's in HoF... What a jerk. Her husband is trying to defend the town against GOBLINS and she has a dagger that SLAYS THEM!!! But she's keeping it hoping she can score a cool 50G from us dupes who came to save them! Im angry... as angry as you can get at an NPC. If she had give that dagger to the scouts that went to the Goblin fortress they would have cleaned up. She is quite possibly the most evil capitalist ever.

1 single dagger is hardly going to make that much of a difference. And there are orcs as well as goblins in that fortress, the scouts would still have been owned What i don't understand is why they dont take a heap of potions that go boom (tm) and drop them from the airship all over the goblin fortress. The thing is made of wood, they could completely destroy the whole fortress! Sure it would spoil the game, but it sure beats the hell out of sending a small party of 1-6 people in too clear out the whole place by themselves!
When you think about it, all the merchants are evil capitalists in Targos. They could be giving you their items to save their own ass, but they instead make you pay for them!

Actually, I proposed the "droping potions from the airship" to the lord of the place. He said it was a bad idea. Not effective enough, or something like that...

Airships are notoriously slow and not very maneuverable. Those goblin sorcerers and orc wizards from the fortress would have lightning bolt-ed it out of the sky before it got within bombing range.

Actually, the "bomb from the air" proposal is made when you're sent to Shaengarne Bridge. Since Ulbrec wants the bridge intact, blowing it up isn't an option

As for the merchants, they know adventurers all too well. If they gave stuff out now, they know you wouldn't pay em later.

No wonder Ulbrec is so grumpy when you first encounter him, hehe
