Two words - Pick Pocket

On other points - just spend your money DS. You'll soon have more than you can spend

Wands can be found on various maps

There is a wand of lightning in the 'nobles' house in Beregost
There is a wand of monster summoning in a cave on the map you reach, if you take the 'back' way out of the Nashkel Mines
There is a wand of fire in the Ulcaster Ruins
Talanthyr (in High Hedge) has several for sale
And if you're cheesy enough you can keep the wand of heavens, which Canderous (one of the illusionary NPC's from Candlekeep) has.

spolier for $$$
on the map south of High Hedge there is a mad cleric with some zombies and a lot of skeletons with crossbows - kill him and take his holy symbol to the temple east of Beregost - the cleric there will give you 5000gp(!) and you can keep the mad cleric' warhammer+2

Ar-Cunin, why did you post your spoiler? Dundee never asked for the locations of Wands, or any items at all, nor did he even say that he was having difficulty or request help.

You may think that I'm being really anal about this, but this is Dundee's first complete run through BG1, and if there's one thing I hate about the Ironworks forum, it's the fact that people *still* feel the need to spoil a complete newbie, just so they can show off the fact that they know things about the game. It has been years since I played my virgin game of BG1, and ever since then, I've hated always knowing exactly where everything is, and wanted to erase that part of my brain so that I could experience the feeling of finding everything out for myself, all over again. Thanks to spoilers, Dundee might never experience that.

This post comes down too hard on you, Ar-Cunin. All you did was spoil Dundee on some Wands and the best Cleric weapon in the game. I worded it as strongly as I did because I meant it not just for you, but for everyone who wants to spoil people who neither desire nor need it. With any luck, this post will get through to everyone who might spoil Dundee's game, and I won't have to say this again.

I pickpocketed some Scimitar from Drizzt. Lemme tell ya, it took a heck of a lot of reloads to do it with Imoen's paltry Pickpocketing skills. I tried killing Drizzt, but I was waaaay too low level at that time.

Heh... this brings back some memories of my first time through BG2. I am basically blundering my way through, doing whatever I can. Trouble is, I have little patience to explore every nook and cranny in the maps because they are very tedious. I prefer to do the main quests or follow the roads. I most probaby walked past dozens of goodies without even knowing about it. I am kind of relying on my BG2 skills to barrage my way to the end of the game( mainly the tactic of arrow barrage).

I already know who to make for my second party.

I posted it to help - just as would with any other member.

If you noticed - I put in the spoiler tag, so he could scroll past if he didn't want to read them.

OK here's how it's done

Do all the other tasks in Candlekeep before going into Obe's building. Finish the first set of monsters and tell Obe you don't want any more enemies and position yourself next to him. Position the illusionary NPC's around your character and drink the potion of speed one of them has. Then you kick all of them out of the party. Talk to Obe again and ask him to take you outside.

And this is where you have to be quick. Click on one of the NPC's and invite him/her back into the party. Then you'll be outside and you'll have one partymember on the inside - use him/her to recruit the others. Meanwhile you run (with the help of the potion) directly to Gorion - and say you're ready to leave.

After the cutscene with 'the Armored Figure' all 5 illusionary NPC's will still be in the party and you can loot them - and you can either keep them or dump them.

How to keep Candlekeep NPCs inventory:
When you get down there, and have them in party, take all the items you want, then export the character and start a new game.
