I was just curious if anyone has tried this yet. I'm getting IWD 2 next week and have been thinking about my party (for like the past month). I'm looking forward to playing a Monk character, so I am thinking that my party may be something like a Necromancer, a Monk, a Thief (possibly multiclassed), maybe a Barbarian and may even throw in a Druid for healing purposes. I am huge fan of the theif so that is an obvious choice for one of my characters, although I have not decided who I am going to multi-class him with or even if I need to. The only reason why I multied my theif in the first IWD was b/c as a stand alone theif, he suffered hit points. Typically my theif, who would be higher in levels, would have the least amount of hit points. So another question I would have is how are hit points determined in the new IWD?

If you decide to multiclass in IWDII your character will only hit points from the current character you choose when you are leveling. That means if you are a rouge, say level 3, and wants to multiclass to a fighter you will get 1-10 points for that leveling and feats associated with that class. You will not get anything from your current thief class. Be also aware of the races and classes favourite class because it will make a big impact on your multiclass leveling and if you are free to choose wich class to level in if you are Rouge/Fighter.
I never multiclass and never chooses a race that's having a level penalty because it's just not worth it in terms of lost feats and spells. |

Some things to keep in mind with IWD2 and the new rules:
1. ALL classes advance with the same experience. Gone are the days when thieves needed less than anyone else. Ergo, your rogue will not be ahead of the rest of the group. 2. Under normal difficulty and with the typical party of six, you can expect an ending level of 16 (average) for your group. If you do even, or mostly even, multiclassing, those characters won't be as competent as a single-class one. 3. You do have to watch for the "favored" class if you decide to multi. All races except pure human and half-elves have a favored class (whichever is higher at the time). As long as one class is the favored, it doesn't matter if development is uneven. For instance, rogue is favored for Halflings. Should you have a Halfling Rogue/Fighter 3/6, no problem. However, if you had a Halfling Cleric/Fighter 3/6, you'd suffer an experience penalty because the levels are more than one apart. 4. Any class can acquire the basic thief skills of hide, move silently, search, pick lock, pick pockets, and remove traps. They won't be as good as a real rogue, nor will they get the special rogue feats and abilities. |

Hmm... If you are going to play in HOF with the character, then multiclass isn't a bad thing to do.

As far as an All Evil Party goes....
All my Party are Human/Tiefling. With a Lawfull Evil allignment. Well with one exception.. My Pal is Aasimar, couldn`t really get around that one. Seems to all be going well. I really don`t see this penalty about using Tiefling characters, and them leveling up slower. I am about halfway through the Ice palace, and my characters are level 9 almost level 10. Of course I kill every single critter in each area. And when I find area`s like where your Air ship crashes... I stand there killing beatles forever... to rack up EX. Wich makes me wonder.... if Tiefling, and Aasimar characters level up 1 level for every 2 a normal human would...(did I get that right?) Then my characters would already be level 18 or so??? Dosn`t sound right. Anyway... Evil works just fine! Of course I don`t wipe out the villages,as much as I sometimes feel like it.... ![]()

The ECL classes just need more experience to advance, it isn't 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 or anything like that. Otherwise, they wouldn't be worth having!
Your L9 Tiefling has enough experience for L10, but because he has that level penalty, he's actually only level 9. When he has enough experience for L11, he'll become L10. And so on. |

Ah ok. Was kinda confused on that one Nightowl2.
Thanks for clearing that up. Still looks like I will be well over the level 15/16 mark when done though. But maybe time will prove me wrong on that one. I`ll just have to go full heart of fury mode next time through with them.... see just how bad *ss a level 28/30 character is.... My Thief already scares the hell out of me... at level 15 and up... I might just leave the rest of my party behind, and Solo it.... ![]()

I would PAY to see someone solo a Theif in HoF mode!!! Im not saying it couldnt be done... but MAN you would have to be a masochist! In HoF I stepped of the boat in targos and a GOBLIN killed my BARBARIAN! Thats sad.

Whilst i am sure an all evil party is possible, it certainly isn't going to be easy.....
Whilst there is no "reputation" in IWD to worry about, it still pays to be nice. Most importantly, good clerics get to change their other spells to "cure" at the click of a button which IMHO is one of the most important features.
