IWD2 Duergars quest - can't complete?

Okay. I met the head Duergar. According to the journal, we're supposed to clean
out all the critters in the caves.

Well, nothing's left standing in those caves but us. Every monster is gone: the
hook horrors, the fire beetles, and, of course, all the ones on the lower level.

But Barzam - no reaction. Nothing comes up about our having done the job. Even
opened the cave-in. Nada.

And I *did* get a message that all the monsters were killed after the massive
fight at the egg room.

Anyone know what's going on here? Any way I can get Barzam to realize I've done
all the dirty work? I'd hate to do all that fighting again.

Well browsing at the black isle forums evidently this is a common problem caused by the spawning of the ochre jellies and the fact that they divide. If you can't get it to work, supposedly if you repeatedly talk to the guy with different characters you can complete the quest, but as for me I just waxed them all.

Yeah, the next time I booted up, I talked to him with a different character and
somehow it took. My second party had an even worse time of it; they had to
clear out the hook horrors about five times before the game realized the quest
was completed. At least the Duergar leader recognized we did it on this occasion.

Ochre jellies splitting, hmmm? Very odd, but something to keep in mind. Thanks
for the tip.

After some searching I found this on the Black Isle site

Q: I've cleared out every creature in the duergar caves in the Underdark, but there is no option to get the quest reward from the Duergar leader.
A: This is due to the slimes regenerating in such a way that the quest flag is not set. If you have this problem, enable the cheat console and try the following command, after which you should be able to get the quest reward:

code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------
ctrlaltdelete:setglobal("ar5101_monsters_dead","global",1)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps everyone having this problem.

Im in the sma part except that i have cleared the monsters and gotten the reward but i cant get the mining tools from the duergar leader please help!

They are in a crate in the storage room.
