IWD Bug

Hello all,

I just recently got the IWD game, along with 1/2 doz other ones. IWD is great. However, I am stuck as I have misplaced or dropped an item (Astrolab thing) and am 1 item short. Does this mean I have to restart or is it somewhere in the game?

Or, if some one can give me directions as to where i can finnd an answer to this quagmire, then great.

If you have dropped it somewhere, then as it is a plot-required item it should stay on the ground where it was left.

If it hasn't, or if you have forgotten where you dropped it, I think you will have to create it again using the cheat console. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Do you have the HoW expansion installed? If so, then you can hold the alt key to highlight piles, containers, and hopefully the dropped piece.

Andyr: A cheat console? I have to find that and try it. Thx. Oh, is there a cheat code to move you to a level you want in IWD?

Marty4: Nope pack not installed. I'll do that shortly. Thx. By highlighting does that show contents or just indicates that something is there without letting you know what?

In my frustration of not restarting IWD, and waiting for an answer in the forum, I started Bladur's Gate, much slower game (bummer), ToEE, which is a slick game, and Halo, also way slick. Now, if I could only play them simultaneously to save on time...

Try using the Dale Keeper. I use it when I need some specific item for the game, but have no idea where to find it....you might be able to find the item in the inventory, and the keeper is way easy to use....here's the link for it if you want it.....(if you don't already have it):

P.S. you have to download it and install it (it'll install right in with your Icewind Dale folder)

Thanks for the links. I'll get on them tonight and fix my hell...but ToEE is so addicting even with its bugs...

Hi Devi,

Success! Dale Keeper solved the problem. A round of jiggers for all and a pint, nay, a keg, I say, of the finest ale for you!

So, I used the program to manifest the astrolab artifact I needed and I carried on through. Then, when I went to resupply in Kul.., there it was on the ground in front of the church doors. Strange as I don't recall it being there before and I often go there for scrolls.

Anyway, I guess I can safely say that the critical items do not disappear from the game when you drop them.

On to Dorn's Deep!
