the smith sells what looks like some brilliant items, but you have nowhere near the gold to afford them early on, by the tiem you do the towns been invaded, so is there any way of either getting huge amounts of gold in the region of 30,000 (without cheating) in chapter 1 & 2 or this guy selling you those items again later in the game? or will the items im able to get in later chapters be way better? cos from the look of things the 50,000 worth items look REALLY good, way better than what my party has atm and it would be annoying for me to advance in the game but never have the option to buy em

The Items will be availeble throughout the game - but you can find items that are better as treasure.

After Dragon's Eye you'll have enough money to buy some really good items - but personally I always use my money at Orrick - his items are better.

The Black Bow might be worth it. Some of the really good items are only available on HoF and/or randomly. It's a good missile weapon, and you probably won't have found a better one by the time you can afford it.

For Bows, I recommend the Messenger of Seth. The beauty of this Shortbow is that it grants you an additional attack per round, and it is available in Dragon's Eye, so you can use it for most of the game.

Which village are you talking about Grungi? Kuldahar will still be there once you've completed DE and come back again.

You're right about the Messanger Dundee, but it's one bow whilst you might (should) have at least two characters that can use them. Of course you're still likely to have found this item before you'll have the cash to buy the Black Bow in the first place.

No it's not entirely true. Although some baddies do appear in Kuldahar at one point, the merchants in Kuldahar are available throughout almost the entire balance of the game (up until one specific incident occurs). In fact, it's worthwhile stopping back from time to time to talk to Orrick in particular as his inventory of spells will change throughout the game.

Yes indeed! In fact, if you see an item from Orrick that you like, buy it!! Orrick gets new items at the start of select chapters, but they replace the existing items rather than adding to them!

Oh yeah, forgot that some of his items disappear and are replaced as Jim points out. Some of his early items are definitely worth having too.
