Levels, Characters, Equipment?

In short - dont take em both on at once and use *hasted* tanks at the front. I think they are very magic resistant, so your mages should concentrate on helping out your tanks rather than damaging the horrors, but I could be wrong and in any case Mages dont have a whole lot of buffing spells. THey can use slings, give em +2 ammo and they arent to bad.

Priests have plenty buffing spells and should use the lot. If you have DsoTC, Armour Melt (priest, level 1) is an excellent spell for weakening opponents.

A few summoned gnolls or animated dead will hold up the horrors for a few rounds as well. A wand of monster summoning will be very handy to help with that.

The horrors in Chap5 can be avoided totaly by disarming the traps that spawn them.

Hmm? Got the first 2 horrors. How many of them must I kill?

Minsc and berserk. What's the big deal? First he virtually kills Khalid and then he almost dies himself as he turns normal (normal and normal) again.

Which horrors have you killed? There are two groups of two in the game, and I dont recall which ones are the battle horrors.

Minscs berserk is a pain which is why I never use it. You gain HP and massive combat bonuses, but have a large chance of losing control of him in combat. Its only really useful if theres none of your guys around to get hit accidently.

ALso when berserk wears off minsc looses the HP he gains - so if he isnt in good shape he can die. Which is incredibly annoying, especialy as healing him while hes berserked is not exactly easy.

Actually, I found that the Battle Horrors at the end of Chapter 4 ane in fact NOT resistant to Magic--or, at least, not Wands. (I tend to be rather liberal with Wands, considering how many of them the game chucks at you.)

Stealth is incredibly useful, to draw them up the corridor toward you one at a time. Don't waste time trying to shoot them with missile weapons, or trying spells like Charm, Confusion and Horror. Just have a stack of Healing Potions & take it like a man. (Or woman, or dwarf, of gnome.....etc)

i love battle horrors, great exp and easy kills with enough ac they cant hit you most of the time (bout -5 or so) and they appear in quite a few places as they get summoned in some fights (like davaeorn) take em on level 1 or 2 and your gonna get beaten up though, but level 4 or 5 should be quite easy just as long as you dont try to toe to toe them with people with bad AC

Cast dispel magic on them. This removes their swords and makes them easy to mop up.

This is precisely what I do. Their swords are similar, if not the same, as those created in the evocation of a 'flame blade' (level two priest spell). Once you dispel their swords, they are simple targets. All they have left are their fists

And to think I was killing them the normal way.

Thanks for that little tip.
