i have just finished a new weapon that i made and it is pretty awesome. I made a quarter staff and it is 2d4 +2 and it has several abilities: for starters it is not too powerful for the game and thats the way that i made it, and here is a list of all of the things i put into it and why i put it into the weapon. first there is 25% immunity to everything(<25% is so you can still get hurt and killed if possible>) and next i added three preist spells to it to give it more of a punch() next i added three slay creature things and it slays all major spell casters()and does not kill druid, bard, or ranger on hit. then i put in four fixed damage attributes, which are set to very low damage and they are i think 1d2 to all of them and they are cold, magic, acid-or-fire, and electricity damage and it never does damage with them over seven. *****************the reason that i made this weapon was for fun and so i could make a weapon for my single player mage () and it works good for him because at the first i put a proficiency of quarter staves on him. so if you want me to e-mail it to you please feel free to ask me and i will send it to you but leave your e-mail address for me to send it to you. and if you have any other questions about it or think that i should change anything in it please tell me and if you think that it is too powerful tell me please. cause i dont want the staff to be too powerful.

I have two suggestions: 1) either give the auto-kill features a saving throw with a bonus of +2 to +4 or 2) limit the number of charges of auto-kill to (perhaps) thrice/day. Any weapon that auto-kills needs to be balanced, especially if it targets a common foe such as "all major spellcasters".

first things first,,,i dont understand what you mean azred about giving the automatic killing charges??? and the only thing that it kills are mages, clerics, and i think paladins on one successful hit,
i might make a saving throw, and if so what is a good saving throw???

I mean make "kill a spellcaster in one hit" a special ability usable three times per day. What would be easier, though, would be to set the saving throw to the auto-kill ability to something like "save vs spells at +3". I suggest the second method until you become more familiar with item creation. [img]graemlins/petard.gif[/img]

ok so now i changed it to where it will only kill mages, clerics, and paladins in the game with one hit and i am going to add a saving throw, so what do you think that the numbers should be for my saving throw, but i dont want it to be impossible for me to kill one though because this is the best weapon in the gods temple place.

I would suggest either save vs. magic (a moderately easy roll for most beings), save vs. death at +1 or +2 (a more difficult save, except for clerics), or save vs. breath at +3 (the most difficult save).
