Possible? Note that druids are not included in the list.

Not hard at all you do not even need druids either. You can always pick up potions, plus if you are using a bunch of rangers, palidins, with the expansions they can earn a few healing spells at higher levels. My last game I did not have a cleric, unless I picked one up to do a quest (DSotSC), then after dropped her.

Yes, you can live without clerics or druids. But I wouldn´t try to go without some sort of a spellcaster.

Doable, but not too great. Involves lots of resting, lay on hands, and money spent on potions. Theoretically, you could be more powerful for fitting another mage in, but I'd rather have a cleric that can tank decently and save my other char's butts, especially in the beginning.

Question Mark

wouldn't u like need clerics early on, cause your poor and weak and often rely on chance and healers, take Icewind Dale for example. whatever i just used that as an excuse to ask some q;s: What is a Transmuter, and what spells do they have? and another q about BgII (but most u are pros so u should be able to answer) and it does sound kinda weird but anyway if u don;t sleep with Aerie will the romance still continue>i did that last time and it didn;t continue. and do u have to have Hear-dalis in your party? Hope u guys got all that, and itz good to be writing again, thank-you.

There is a BG2 forum you know

But if you sleep with her at the first oppertunity, the romance terminates.

its possible to complete the game with a party of 6 warrior types and almost any other combination of party if you play it right, just some combinations make things easier or harder.

for me i find the best combination is

2 muscle tanks
1 thief with backstab *3 or *4 and a bow (run in stab em run off shoot arrows at them as tanks intercept)
3 spellcasters, two of whom have defensive and healing magics and esp creature summon spells and one mage with attacking spells and some creature summon too

but everyone uses different tactics and combinations there is no one party who is best to complete the game

I always have a cleric in the party. I guess it goes back to the old PnP DnD days of having a balanced party. In BG, I like keeping the balanced party too. Plus having a cleric means you're not spending money on potions, which leaves more gold for arrows, swords, armor, courtesans....

Since the NPCs have their EXP set to match your level (the first time you recruit them, anyway), I find that a great strategy is simply not to recruit any Mages for the first half of the game. You're not going to be fighting any enemies that are so tough you need Wizard spells, so I might as well do without them until I'm Level 5 or 6, and then go and get a Level 5 Edwin, Dynaheir, or Xan without the trouble of having dragged them along in my party.

Priests are of similar value, although to a lesser extent; a low-level Cleric or Druid is going to save you only a handful of Healing Potions per day, plus Clerics can cast Chant. That's about all they're good for, plus they don't actually suck on the battlefield. When Clerics actually get useful, though, is Level 5. Oh, that yummy Animate Dead. And Dispel Magic. Good stuff.

Transmuters are barred from the Abjuration and Necromancy schools.
