apologies for the spoilers. twas my first post
That would be Illyich and his henchmen. To be more specific, they are:

Illyich - dwarven fighter (beserker kit?). Equipped with plate armor (IIRC) and two of the best weapons you can find this early in the game. A warhammer +2 and a club +3 (Jaheira has gotta like that one ).
Rasputin - human monk. He moves liked greased lightning and is the most dangerous member of the group, IMHO. One punch can stun your character (or another party member) and effectively knock them out of the fight for good. He wears a Cloak of Protection +1.
Zhivago - evil human cleric. His opening move is to summon a Fallen Diva - as if they didn't have enough powerful enemies in their party already. . The diva then begins casting some nasty spells of her own in addition to her melee' prowess.
Karamazov - female(?) dwarven Wizard Slayer. She carries a +2 heavy crossbow that fires +3 bolts at the same rate as a light Crossbow of Speed. With the cumulative chance for causing Miscast Magic on successful hits, she is a spellcasters nightmare. In addition to the crossbow and bolts, she carries a very nice Short Sword +2. (If you happen to Charm Karamazov in the battle, you can force her to switch to the sword - thus saving as many of those +3 bolts for your party and/or character as possible ).
Jailkeep Golem - a Stone Golem (I think) and very tough in melee. Deals out lots of damage, can slow his opponents, and is immune to weapons with less than a +2 enchantment.
Glabrezu - It's a demon. What more do you need to know?

Can someone clarify the rules for me before I get busted by mistake?? (Yes, I've read the IW posting rules.) Am I to understand that we cannot even say TOB names, in a thread that is already labeled "SPOILERS", simply because this is in the SOA room? I'd think with the thread title including "SPOILERS", we could let the discussion go. I'll wait to hear the expected limits on acceptable speech, then edit this with my input on the thread. Thanks IW.

I'm with you on this one, Hank. If the posts listed ONLY bosses from ToB, I could understand the request to move the thread - but since the obligatory SPOILER WARNING is contained in the title, I don't see what is wrong with mentioning a ToB boss here.

Watcher's Keep can be played in SoA and ToB both, so listing the Nameless One here is certainly legitimate (IMHO).

I agree that this thread was designed for SoA bosses ONLY, so I understand that the ToB bosses shouldn't have been mentioned (unless you can also face them in SoA) - but I'm a little shocked at such a strong reaction to ToB names in this thread. I don't know who "Miss ToB" is, because I've never played ToB yet...but since a SPOILER WARNING was given, I wasn't upset to see her listed here.

Well, I though lets find out who's the strongest enemy in the whole game including tactics and TOB.
The thread wasn't even supposed to be limited to SOA bosses. It was supposed to cover the entire game, per the thread-author's question.

When mentioning ToB on the SoA board, I think it's best to put "ToB spoilers" as a warning. "Spoilers" on the SoA board imply, to me at least, that everything up to and including that final fight with Irenicus is fair game, and so might someone else who's finished SoA. But being comfortable with SoA spoilers doesn't mean you are okay with/ have finished ToB.

most powerful, yes. most difficult? no

bear in mind that when you face hard enemies early on in the game, you don't have the awesome stuff you have when you face mellisan or even irenicus. the fights themselves are not easy per say, but at least you have the magic items to fall back on.

illyich in tactics is an absolute bugger to fight simply because he happens so early.

Kruspe: I'm not usually the spoiler police, but your post is about the biggest spoiler in the game and should be treated (prefaced) accordingly. Preferably in red, flashing letters. I agree with Illumina. After all, it's the endgame spoiler.

I would have hoped that a sense of pattern recognition would kick in when other people, typing those letters together, inexorably cause people to swear and get angry and the mod to remove the offending string of letters.

Edit- I do feel Thrain is right, though.. This is why BG tends to be more difficult than the following games. Cloudkill can take out your party because you have no way of countering it.. but in SoA and ToB you get Zone of Sweet Air.
