? I always thought it was about one of the statues on the first level wouldn't spawn if you had a lower level party, therefore you wouldn't get the weapon that he had. However, I happen to have forgotten the name of that weapon...

Oh, no, I agree with you wholeheartedly--except that I thought that Xan's Moonblade, with its unearthly blue flame, was the most gorgeous. I have no clue why the hell they didn't keep that animation. As for the glowing weapons in BG2, some I like and some I don't. It makes sense for a weapon like Carsomyr to glow, since by its very nature it is a beacon of holy cleansing light. But--the Short Sword of Backstabbing? Hello? "I'm going to hide behind this pillar and then suddenly jump out and drive my blade into my enemy's kidneys. Boy, I sure hope the throbbing red glow of my sword doesn't tip him off."
And why the heck doesn't the Stonefire Axe (or at least its blade) glow red? It would look so kickass Dual-wielded with Frostreaver.

Assassin is correct: If you visit WK when you're too low-level, the game will remove some monsters in order to compensate for that. One of the monsters that can get removed carries a very nice weapon, however, a weapon that you do not want to screw yourself out of. If you've cleared the first level and did not find a weapon whose name begins with F, it's best to simply Reload your Auto-Save and come back later.

And while we've on the subject, this thread does indeed belong in the ToB forum. But, since only a moderator can move it, and Dundee has been excruciatingly busy lately (as the regulars here no doubt have noticed), it looks like it's going to sit in SoA for a while.

Seems I have been lucky untill now; the "F" weapon was always there even when I entered low- level (if I understand Six correctly, the statue carrying the F weapon gets sometimes randomly removed, not always).

If you have the Always Toughest Spawn component of Tactics installed, that particular statue should always be present.
