I thought, with the sudden influx of story threads I thought I would create my own.

The Army of Darkness
(A Baldurs Gate Fanfic written by Me)
*Note, this story contains major throne of Bhaal spoiler(s)*

*This tale tells the story from his point of view of a Human Kensai/Mage by the name of Daniel and it takes place after he defeats Mellesan, he declines the offer by Solar to continue his adventures with his friends*

Chapter 1 – Out Of the Throne and Into the Fire

Mellesan lay there in a pool of her own blood, her baneful gaze now wiped clean off her face and her spear still gripped in her hand. I gripped handle of my katana tightly bringing down Celestial Fury for the final stroke to end her life and then Solar came through a dimension’s door much to my surprise.

“Enough!” she bellowed “The gods have decreed this contest is over….”

I stood there with Celestial Fury poised near Mellasan’s throat and took a short step back. I couldn’t believe that Mellesan found the strength to stand up and argue with Solar.

“NO!” she coughed leaning on her spear “I…. This… cannot be!”

Solar glanced at myself and my battle worn party. There was myself, Minsc, Imoen, Aerie, Keldorn and my brother Servok.

“Daniel….” She said skipping a long story short. “Now you must make a choice…. You can give up your dark taint and become a mortal again or you can take the place of your father and become the new lord of murder…”

I put my katana back in its sheath and sighed to myself, I knew this was going to be the hardest decision of my life. I turned to my fellow party members for some sort of comfort and smiled at them.

“Imoen…my dearest sister… you have been with me from the beginning…since Candlekeep…and-“

My sister cut off my sentence with a quaint laugh.

“Hehe…you know what bro? Any choice ya make here will be fine with me.” She said while walking over to me and embracing me in a tight hug.

I smiled and her and hugged her back “Thanks Immy…” and then and drew my gaze back to the others in my party.

Minsc stood there with a goofy smile on his face and his pet hamster Boo in his hands all I could do is laugh. I walked over to the huge bulking Ranger and smiled, patting him on the shoulder “Minsc my friend…you also have been with me since the beginning…and-“

Yet again my sentence was cut short my Minsc this time

“Minsc will be sad if you leave! …You are our friend and we will miss the butt kicking we do in the name of righteousness oh so greatly! And Boo will be sad too…. ” Boo his faithful hamster squeaked as if it was rather depressed with me leaving.

I just smiled and patted him on the back again, then I walked over to Aerie and held both of her hands staring into her soft Elven eyes and she looked back into mine and smiled sweetly. Over the many adventures we have had I grew to love her dearly, she stuttered a little before calming down.

“D-Daniel…I…. I will stand by you in any decision you make…I…will love you always…whatever you do and I will never forget what you have done for me…you have made me a very happy woman Daniel…”

She then kissed my forehead and stood back allowing me to address the others in the party. I smiled yet again though I thought my friends thought I would take Solar up on her offer. Little do they know…

The Inquisitor Paladin Keldorn put a gauntleted hand on my shoulder.

“Daniel…” he said in his rather gruff voice “’Maybe we will meet again on another plane somewhere, sometime… I also support any decision you choose. May Torm guide you…” He squeezed my shoulder slightly and nodded, I nodded back in return.

“Thank you Keldorn, I appreciate it…”

Then, I turned to face my brother Servok I didn’t know what got into him because he had a smile on his face I approached him and extended a friendly hand out to him.

“Brother…. Thank you for being at my side helping me through this…”

Servok looked at me and grinned shaking my hand. “HA! you’re going soft little brother…. I am quite capable of looking after myself so there is no need for you to lavish your sympathy on me…”

I gave him an awkward glance and smiled, I knew he did care but as always he puts on a hard front to cover it. I walked back over to Solar taking one final look at my friends.

“Solar…. I wish for you to….” There was silence in the group all their gazes were upon me “I wish for you to take my essence I want to continue my adventures with my friends…”

Solar nodded “It is done…. Your essence will be taken and the throne of Bhaal and Mellesan will be destroyed… “ My companions sighed a sigh of relief. I knew that in myself I did the right thing.

Solar did her thing and I felt my Bhaal essence flow out of me I was semi-pleased that the dark taint was out of my body. I felt my soul literally being pulled from me again this brought back the feeling of that time in the asylum with Irenicus. After Solar took my essence we were all transported out of the plane to the city of Amkathran.

But as we set foot in Amkathran we were in for quite a shock…

Chapter 2 – Return to Amkathran

Balthazar and his mosaic guards were there to greet us. Since Balthazar and I were on the same ground, the remaining of the five approached me flanked by his guards and extended a friendly hand out.

“I offer my congratulations Daniel…. You have defeated the menace Mellesan and destroyed the throne of our father… Thank you.”

I smiled and shook his hand “All in a days work Balthazar….”

The monk smiled “Well… I believe your friends are in need of a rest…come… I have laid out a fine banquet for you and your companions…”

“HA… Minsc and Boo firmly planted the boot of goodness upon buttocks of evil! And now we are tired…” Minsc shouted.

“Yeah…hack slash hack slash…Melly got her belly in a jelly are we going to kill some dragons now?” the sword Lilarcor said from on the back on the mighty ranger “Ooh…Minsc and Boo would love to kill dragons but first we must eat! Onward! Friendly Monk man take us to the banquet!”

We walked through the courtyard of Balthazar’s monastery and into the main banquet hall. There was a very long table in the middle of the room surrounded by chairs and a multitude of different types of food laid on the table. I have to tell you it did look very appetising, since I haven't eaten nothing but bread and water and the occasional Troll on a stick Keldorn makes which tastes very nice with Aerie's barbecue sauce. Ah anyway, we took our seats and I could see out of the corner of my eye Balthazar's mosaic guards give strange looks at Sarevok but he just shrugged them off. Sitting next to my brother going from the left was Imoen, Minsc, Aerie, Keldorn then myself.

Balthazar stood at the top of the table and raised his goblet in the air "A toast…to the heroes that saved this word from certain destruction…these fine people deserve your gratitude and a little speech for yourself…stand up Daniel and address the crowd." Of course then I had to so I stood up with my goblet of winter wine in my hand and look a glance around.

"Friends…Fellow compatriots, In my years of adventuring I have come fought with dragons, liches, evil mages and many other evil beings. And I have come out successful but I didn’t do it alone oh no, I had my friends behind me and I think you all owe them the same gratitude as I. There isn't a person anywhere that isn't capable of doing more than he thinks he can. How many a man has thrown up his hands at a time when a little more effort, a little more patience would have achieved success? Hmmph. Perhaps but Success, real success, in any endeavour demands more from an individual than most people are willing to offer—not more than they are capable of offering… So… a toast… a toast to our friends, may they continue on the path of greatness…" I raised my goblet and the whole room began clapping and cheering. I took a sip of my wine and sat back down.

"Hehe…great speech bro. Have you been practice it?" Imoen said coyly from her seat looking over at me. I just shook my head and smiled. And with that done everyone began to eat, I was eating some rice dish Keldorn was having some type of read meat, Sarevok was gnawing on a chicken leg, Aerie was having the same as I and Imoen was also having the same. But the huge bulking ranger Minsc went straight for an extremely spicy dish not knowing its strength he took a mouth full of it and shouted.

"ARGHHHH! HOT HOT HOT!" I laughed, but Minsc got a little frustrated and went into a berzerker rage and started falling about the place holding his mouth and waving his arms around. It took about four monks to tackle him down on the ground and pour some milk in his mouth to calm him down. The ranger stood back up in a huff "Minsc will ask next time before he eats like a Orc…" there were muffled laughs from everyone as he sat back down.

After the banquet was over there was a little music from a troupe of Bards who called themselves 'The Beatles' what a strange name for a band I thought it would never catch on. Minsc was dancing with Aerie and much to my surprise Imoen managed to get Sarevok up and dancing, while Keldorn was in the far corner talking to Balthazar about random things. I was content for once in my life, I knew that the evil was purged and there was peace in this world once again.

But little did I know it would take a turn for the worse…

Chapter 3 - The Undead March

On the top of the hill near De'Arnise Keep a shadowed figure sat upon a barbed pitch-black war-horse he huge gauntleted hands gripped the rains as he glared at the keep. At his side stood a Lich, the Lich was shrouded in bandages. The Demon Knight glanced down at the Lich and spoke.

"Einsamkeit…rally your troops we attack at noon," The Demon Knight said in a low flagitious voice.

The Lich hissed and then nodded "Yessss massster Zerstörung… it issss done… my troopssss will be ready at you command…" with that said the Lich conjured up a dimensions door and went through it.

Meanwhile in Amkathran I was standing outside looking up at the night sky on my bedroom balcony then I felt a pair of gentle hands slip around my waist and a head lay on my back.

"Daniel…" Aerie said "Why are you not in bed…" Aerie questioned. I just turned around on the spot and smiled a little.

"I can't sleep Aerie, I feel restless and edgy maybe I haven't fully recovered from when Solar took my essence… I don’t know…"

I nodded slightly I knew it would do me good to have a decent nights sleep for a change. So I went back into the room and laid down on the bed an Aerie laid next to me and then we both fell asleep in each other's arms.

It was morning though it only seemed like night, those Amkathran nights are extremely long. I woke up to the sounds of many monks preying outside it was quite a sight to see, there were about 500 monks dressed in ceremonial robes bowing on their knees. I smiled and watched Aerie sleeping for a little while and made my way downstairs. Already downstairs were Minsc, Sarevok, Imoen and Keldorn. Minsc looked up at me and grinned.

"Ah look who has awaken Boo… It is Daniel… Ah…Um…" Minsc looked to Imoen and then Imoen looked to Keldorn. I just stood there wondering what the hell was going on.

"Good morning everyone… I just you all had a decent nights sleep?" I decided to say shrugging off the other subject.

"Daniel…" Imoen said with a downhearted look on her face " De'Arnise Keep has been sacked… and taken over…I'm sorry…Nalia managed to get away but everyone else was slaughtered in the fight"

I just stood there with a dumbstruck look on my face "Its…what? How? By who?"
Sarevok stood up looking at me "It was undead creatures that took over the keep Daniel. A powerful Lich by the name of Einsamkeit and his army." Sarevok tossed a scroll on the table for me to look at, so I picked it up and began to read, the scroll said.

"Bhaalspawn…your stronghold has been taken over and I believe it's only a matter of time that you come and try to pry it away from me, I have my reasons you just have to figure them out. Come and take it from me if you dare…"

The letter was written in blood and signed by Einsamkeit. I just scrunched up the scroll into a tight ball in my hand and threw it down on the floor. I wasn’t going to let the Lich and his armies get away with this.

"We ride for De'Arnise Keep today…"

There was an uneasy silence from everyone, they knew this battle wasnt going to be easy.

Ok, i didnt read the story, as I dont want ToB spoilers, but I am curious about one thing: Does this story have anything to do with the movie, "Army of Darkness?" Because, thats a great movie! Well, I gotta go before my teacher flays me alive.

The story has nothing to do with the movie, in a way [img]tongue.gif[/img] The next chapter should be up soon people.
