Hmmm....it seems a bit tough
at the moment becos DEMOGORGON is able to endlessly, and I mean ENDLESSLY summoning
INFERNAL HOSTS and GATE
MARILETHS r quite invulnerable and even the other lesser demons can cast spells

Any hints and tips on how to DEFEAT the MODIFIED ASCENSION vs of DEMOGORGON???

No spoilers unless really necessary.

THANKS

Get your mage to memorise 4 project images. The set up a chaqin contingency "helpless" to 3xproject image on "self". Then when the battle starts, cast project image on yourself. This will make you helpless and you will have 4 project images of yourself. Now use Summon planetar HLA (memorise as much as possible) From each image and you will have one hell of an army.

Otherwise, use summons (preferably gated) to distract him and his minions while you foicus ALL your forces on him. Also, you could give one of your cleric/mage/theif/other weaker characters the wand of resurrection and get them to use it on badly hurt people (it fully heals them).

Another very very cheesey thing to do is to get the axe of the unyielding. Then pause the game and equip mit and unequip it multiple times on your fighters. Because it grants+1 to con, it gives you extra hitpoints which stay when you take it off. So just equip and re-equip to your hearts content. Thats all the advice I can offer right now but im sure someone else will contribute a whole lot more.

Ok But all the PROJECT IMAGES r instantly gone when TRUE SIGHT is cast by DEMOGORGON
The PLANETARS turn on u and become ur ENEMY when there r other area effect spells cast that effect them! Then u have more to fight! Also won't the PIT FIENDS attack them as well becos no PROT FROMEVIL WAS CAST on the PLANETARS.

Hmmm interesting the DEMOGORGON says: 'no u shall not use of our own against me'???
Does that 'confuse' them or something?

Yeah cheesy but not all of my fighters can use it besides SAREVOK mayb my main character BARBARIAN.

Does any1 else have any strategies cos this still does not work out!!!
There does not seem to b any weapons that EFFECT the DEMOGORGON?!
And what bout the MARILETHS r there certain weapons that do not work against them? or do their combat spell protections need to b removed 1st?

PLEASE some more hints & Tips

THANKS

Here is my experience of the un-modded Demogorgon:

Cast Spell Immunity - Divinity to stop True sight. You can prepare at least one image with this, and then summon alot of planetars and mordenkain's swords to prevent anyone from attacking the image(s). If they do attack the images, they will be instantly dispelled for some reason; even spell immunity - abjuration won't stop that (nor death ward like Userunfriendly pointed out.) An occassional breath or comet will buy time, but what seem to do real damage is abi dalzims horrid wilthings. Usually I prepare my first image by casting Improved Alacrity, immediately followed by protection spells that requires no time.

Hope it helps.

Pit Fiends arent demons...they're devils. Quite a big difference there, you know

*sigh*Getting tired of posting this, but what the hell...

Simply have your mage cast Prot. from Fire and have him memorize as many Prot. from Magic Weapons as humanly possible. Cast PfF and PfMW and send the mage to tickle Gorgons belly, or something else equally interesting, cause thats about all hes a use for now(unless the breach wands work on Demo...dont remember right now). Recast PfMW as needed. Use fighters with ranged weapons+Greater Whirlwind or Critical hit to kill Demo and mop up the other demons, and wala, demogorgons killed, and you havent lost a single HP!

What about Demo's stare? Doesn't it drain you or something? I've never quite figured out what that was.
I'm really not sure about the gaze, but I think that it drains and/or paralyzes you. I remember having it happen to Minsc, and I really had no idea what happened, so I just equiped him with the Runehammer+5 and then everything seemed fine.

Yipes. I only ever fought modded Demogorgon once, and that was such a confused, insane affair that I barely remember anything about it. The only events I recall were my party splitting up and attacking from both sides of the area, only to get seriously hurt and both groups being forced to make a fighting retreat back to the portal. I have no idea how I won.

execuse me...there's a "new" DEMOGORGON now? not the "original tougher" version? I only played the original thougher Demogorgon (not the one in standard ToB), he's not really difficult. The last time I went through ToB, I beat him in one try, no reload. Same tactics to fight the standard verison, the diffrerence being with a higher level party:

very intense, yes, but *ridiculously hard*? no, imo, only the Ascension final battle deserves that expression. Of course if it's a *new* Demogorgon discussed here, I'm sorry :embarrassed:

Summons = Mordy Swords bugging his summons; 2 mages, with their simulacra breaching, removing combat/spell protections, firing comets..., 2 fighters charing in, GWWs..., two clerics /druids, healing and neturalizing poison, and curing diseases (Jaheira's insect plague works wonders in this, as in many other, battle)...
