Heyas, im kinda Stuck with Draconis..
So far the only 2 places left to go are the Fight against Demogorgon and Draconis.
My Party is:
Nimmermehr (29 Rogue)
Mazzy
Jaheira
Sarevok
Aerie
Viconia
I didnt use a lot of Magic till now, but i cant beat Draconis without.
Mazzy and Sarevok easily kill his Human Form and his Friends, but then
true Sight doesnt seem to work like it should (he gets invis again and again..) and his stupid Dragons Breath attack always pushes my Fighters through the whole screen.
The only Lvl 8 Spells i can use are the 4 on Aerie.

So do i have to reload an old Savegame?

You should put soiler tags on this, BTW.

Have Aerie use some Lower Resistance spells until you can lower her resistance enough to get in some spells. Use Dispel Magic often. Have Aerie use simulcram, but keep her out of view of Draconis. Then move her copy close up and blast away with spells now that his resistance has been lowered.

Hoo boy....how to defeat Draconis with only half a Mage. Sorry to say this, Jazzybelle, but your party doesn't stand very good odds of beating the game. Still, you never know.

Draconis is a pain in the ass because:
  • He's a Dragon, with the AC, THAC0, Breath Weapon and Wing Buffets that go along with that
  • He starts the battle with PfMW, and Immunity: Abjuration, so you can't Dispel or Breach the PfMW
  • He keeps turning Invisible, which makes him very difficult to target with spells
  • He casts lots of spells, including Heal and some low-level summons, making him more difficult to kill
The (best) way to beat Draconis is to cast True Sight, Time Stop, and Improved Alacrity. This gives your Wizard 3 rounds (during which Draconis cannot go Invisible) to pelt him with some Lower Resistances and a horrifying barrage of damaging spells. But since you say that Aerie doesn't have any Level 9 spellslots, that's out of your league. Better use some more Wizard power next time, huh?

As it stands now, your best bet is probably to cheese the hell out of him: Lay a stack of Traps all in one spot, and hope that Draconis steps on it instead of his Invisible Stalkers.

*cough* *cough*

As much as I like to extoll the value of magic, magic is not necessary to defeat Draconis.

Go back to town and buy 2 Protection from Acid scrolls (or cast it from a spell slot if you have the spell).

Use it on Sarevock, make sure he has 100%+ resistance to acid.

Beat up the Human form.

When Draconis morphs, cast Improved Haste on Sarevock and whack away on Draconis after running around for 4 rounds (for his Protection from Magical Weapons to wear out). Try to use a weapon that deals elemental damage as well.

It's still possible to beat the game with out a wizard. It's a bit late now, but if you ditched Mazzy and recruited Keldorn in her place, you could have Keldorn use the dispel magic spells from his special abilities. He casts it at twice his level. For me, I didn't even bother to have my sorceror learn dispel magic since I had Keldorn in my group.

About what Dundee said, make sure Sarevok uses Hardiness (special ability) if he has it to help protect himself from the wing buffets. He's gonna need it.

Summon a Fallen Deva/Elemental Prince (I'm assuming that you have access to those spells). Use those for the actual killing of the original human Draconis. They'll get killed by his Death Shockwave or somesuch; don't really worry. He has a SI: Abjuration on. Simple way is to use a Rod of Reversal on him (RRofR), then Breach (or Wand of Spell Striking- Breach) for his Protection from Magical Weapons. Improve Haste your Warriors, Critical Strike them, and he'll fall.

Oh, and use Protection from Acid. Can't remember if there's a Cleric spell for it or not, but if not, use those green scrolls.

Wing Buffet is actually not that much of a problem. I'm assuming taht Aerie/Viconia are sitting in the back, right? If so, then equip both of them with Rods of Ressurection and use those to heal up your hurt warriors.

If Mazzy is using a good Short Bow, have here in front of him, and Jaheira and Sarevok to the sides. Why? Wing Buffet if mainly dangerous, IMO, because it can stun the people it hits. However, dragons will only Wing Buffet once in a while. If he can manage to only get one person stun'ed, then you can distract him with the others.

spell immunity abjuration does NOT stop breach...

only spell immunity divination and improved invisibility stops breach, by making the target an invalid target for a targetted spell...you cannot target improved invisible creatures with breach...

only spell shield, and the boots of preservation (reward for completing the ritual in tactics mod) stops breach...

actually i've been doing some experiments with spell immunity and ruby ray, warding whip and other magic defence breakers...

it seems that spell immunity will not stop abjuration based spell defense breakers...a warding whip on a spell immunity abjuration npc has a CHANCE of removing the spell immunity abjuration...spell strike always works, though...

but use a spell triggered breach lower lower, and you can now hit him with magic attack spells...

or just have saravok beat him up with foa and crom in off hand...

spell immunity abjuration will stop remove magic, though...

Wouldn't Ruby Ray of Reversal take out that SI: Abjuration, since it's an Alteration spell? Or is this not how RRR works?

Wouldn't Ruby Ray of Reversal take out that SI: Abjuration, since it's an Alteration spell? Or is this not how RRR works? [/QUOTE]despite the common belief to the contrary, and i am including myself in that belief...(before i did some tests)

spell immunity abjuration will NOT stop secret word, kelbens warding whip, pierce shield, and other spell protection removal spells, despite the fact that they are indeed abjuration spells...

now i've written up my guide in the mistaken belief that because ruby ray is both abjuration and alteration, it will punch thru and get rid of spell immunity...yet my latest experiments with imoen spell immune to both alteration and abjuration, the ruby ray still dumped spell immunity...same for khelbens warding whip..but what happens is that there is a chance that a ruby ray or khelbens will dump the spell immunity(it sometimes killed spell immunity, sometimes didn't)...spell strike, as per description always works..and spell immunity abjuration does not stop breach..

spell immunity abjuration will stop remove magic, but breach will kill the protection from magic weapons, it has no effect as per spell description on the spell immunity...so breach (kills protection from magic weapons) and whack away...

if you really want to remove the spell immunity, secret word, or khelbens or spell strike it...

but since spell immunity does not protect from physical attacks, is rather pointless..

however, with smarter mages, it does become a significant point...

a smarmy lich is immune to breach...lich immunity to level 5 spell and below...
they are NOT immune to remove magic, (some sort of oversight) but smarmy liches cast spell immunity abjuration, so remove magic does NOT work on them...they are improved invisible, so you cannot target them with khelbens warding whip, or spell strike, and they are spell immune divination, so true sight won't work...

so a smarmy lich is already immune to breach, spell immune to abjuration and divination...and improved invisible...making them an invalid target for targetted spells, like spell strike, thus it is impossible to remove the spell immunity...and lastly, they have spell shield, and protection from magic weapons...

so its one of the most nasty set of interlocking and mutually supporting defenses i've ever ran across..

Ruby Ray of Reversal removes the highest spell protection first (assuming there is no Spell Shield).

Hence unless the Spell Immunity is the highest level spell protection, it will not be removed first. RRoR's other name is Spell Trap Killer.

Pierce Shield works the same way.
