I tried battling Draconis, and in my opionion he by far much more of a challenge than Abazigal. Anyhow, I have defeated him before, but are there any simplier methods at destroying him? For the two times I have defeated him, I used the Ray of Reversal Rod to break through his protections, detect invisibility when needed, but ran out of them because he kept disappearing. Also this dragon death breath or whatever it is, is a killer. It killed four of my NPC's in one fell swoop. I also noticed that if you do not continually hit him his hit points regenerate. This seems to make him somewhat invincible for a time, especially when you have to take time to kill his summoned creatures, remove his invisibility and protections, and summon creatures to aid you. Firkraag was Teddy Freakin' Rukspin in comparison. Ugh...

Heheh, if you think Draconis is easier than Abazigal, you obviously did not download the -improved bosses patch for abazigal- , its a killer. ( multi-dragon fight ).

Anywayz, i got lucky on my draconis-fight, since a dragon's breath knocked him behind the pillars on the left side of the screen.
He then turned into a dragon,...... and couldnt move towards me, since there were several pillars in between

Dont waste too much on his human form,
then simply have a chain-contingency with time-stop ...
summon atleast one planetar/ deva, because they dispel on every hit ( bye bye Prot. from magic weapons and stoneskin ).
Also buy protection from acid ( i think ) scrolls.

But before i go into this any further :
1. I'm not the one that should be giving advice, since i got lucky
2. By using the allmighty "search-option" ( below, post new topic
somewhere), and typing something like -Draconis- ... You'll
probably get a whole lot of posts about tactics and such.
Have fun reading

It's a far off idea, one I thought about and read in a past post. Would shapchanging into a mindflayer and attacking Draconis do the trick? Eat that oversized iguana's brain, and let Boo tinkle on his severed head.

yes, changing into a mindflayer and attacking an enemy is a very effective method.
Though it's best used in combination with Time-stop, since a single mindflayer doesnt really survive very long in a one-to-one fight with a dragon.
Be warned though; when in mindflayer-form and attacking someone, you drain his intelligence, once the enemies Int. drops below 3 ... the game doesnt allow him to live anymore, since a character with less than 3 int. isnt allowed.
But it's the game that kills the enemy, not you, so you will NOT receive any XP for killing an enemy with an intel. drain.
Hope it helpz

I think I'll live without the experience. As I recall he's only worth about 40000xp, maybe more. I'd rather have him dead than struggle for xp's I can get from fighting on further along in the game. Hehehehehe....I'm gonna make him stupid, then watch his head explode like a frog with a cherry bomb up his arse!

If your mage is pretty high on the levels, cast a time stop, followed by breach etc and sequencers filled with Greater Malisons and Lower resistences. And then cast stuff like finger of death and comet (especially comet) on him. Presto. Edwin had him dead in mere seconds.

I agree with Rimjaw--the reason Draconis is such a pain is that he always seems to turn Invisible right before your Mages finish their spells (that they'd targeted on Draconis when he was visible), wasting the spell completely. It's like trying to fight a dragon with no spellcasters at all.

But that's only true for spells that are targeted ON Draconis--so all you have to do is use Area-of-Effect spells, and KEEP using them. Pop them all in a Time Stop, and he won't even have time to Heal himself. Also, Traps are only cheesy in this fight if you stack them close together--Personally, I feel that a distance of about 10 feet between any 2 Traps is a non-cheesy radius.

Draconis, no problem. Absolute Immunity spell, The Carsomyr+6 and a good strong paladin, no problem!
