I think its very dumb that when you have minimal rep., things cost 10x more in shops. how the f*ck can a evil character do evil stuff, have a bad reputation and not lose all his money!?

Your right, the system is not perfect but does prevent you from just killing everyone.

You got a point there. Well just do the sell and steal trick and you'll be rich.

That's another piece of junked code I wish they'd fixed. It makes sense that you could sell something you'd stolen, earlier, but I'd expect that you'd only get 10% of the value, or less: "handler's fees," or some such, the purchaser of the hot goods might say.
And doing it over and over, stealing and selling back the same item from a particular merchant, is about as cheesy and realistic a tactic as they come. That should have been eliminated from Day One. ![]() |

It would be cool if the powers of holly wariors such as the Paladin partially depended on their rep.

I agree fable. Odd that you can steal everything from a merchant without being he/she notices it.

You could always use Near Infinity or Excel/QuattroPro to edit the file "reputati.2da", especially under the "kill innocent" and "injure innocent" columns. This can make killing people have no negative reputation result; you can also edit the "steal" column so you don't lose rep from stealing, but the shop owner would still become hostile.

uss, stop *insert approriate expletive here as desired* ing!
Reptution MAKES SENSE! Why would you not suffer for MURDERING PEOPLE!? Of course, when you kill somebody in the middle of nowhere, it shouldn't have an effect everywhere else, but still... Reputation DOES affect paladins and rangers. Bad rep means fallen and this means screwed character... Basicly a dualclassed fighter without the 2nd class. ![]() |

quote: It's about role-playing. Are you role-playing an evil thug or an evil person with half a brain? And evil thug will kill anyone who gets in his way, and subsequently screw himself over so he can't buy stuff, is attacked every five minutes and can't finish the game. An intelligent evil person will realise that they need to keep some people alive and use them for their own purposes. He will realise that having a decent reputation is useful for his own ends. He'll do supposedly 'good' quests in order to achieve his own gains. It makes perfect sense that shopkeepers are going to jack up their prices if some nefarious thug comes into their store - they know all the other shopkeepers will as well so you have no choice but to buy from them whatever the price. Being evil doesn't mean having a reputation of one. It means being evil when you can get away with it, and justifying being not so evil with monetary and other gains.

Good point, Aelia Jusa, but i think evil characters should not have a good reputation and it is not realistic when prices are higher in stores. at least not when buying from evil characters like the black market thief inside the Shadow Thieves HQ.
Actually, i really like the guards that attack you(though i`ve met them only once). they arent so tough and give good exp(8500 or something from each one)In this game, you have to follow the system, or get screwed. |
