What kind of video cards are you all using? I know one of you is using the Voodoo 3, but what about the others?

Also, are you running the game in hardware 3D or software? You might switch to whatever one you are not using and give it a try.

Well sent email to the support webpage, and i called once to try and get in touch with a technical guy, boy that was useless....

First its not a 1-800 number, so it costs you, and the menu is designed to really milk the money out of you, tons of useless babble before any options are given, plus you can't disrupt the dialogue to change menus, I was getting so pi**ed with that menu system. I've never seen one so bad, thats made to stretch out your phone call and milk the money.
So finally after a few minutes found the option I wanted, to talk to a support rep, but waited on the line for about 15 minutes with no help, listening to stinking music.
A waste of my time and money. Ill just flood the Web site support center with emails until they reply, its free that way and won't cost me a arm and a leg to talk to them.
I hope someone gets some closure with this, I haven't yet, and I've been trying to get an answer since 11 am.

The Only thing I can think of is getting back your old "Dialogue.tlk" (I think thats what its called) file..However, that would only matter if you got the Text Fixes from Kevins site (Baldurdash)..If you did get it, the old file is backed up with a .old extension, so It shouldnt be to difficult to do.

Sorry I couldnt be more help! =(

Ok guys, a heads up on what i've found. Ive been over on the BLACK ISLE forum boards, and Kevin from Baldurdash is actually at that site with other forum users trying to help out.
So far, it seems that the problems alot of us are having (and tons of other people) might be related to Kevins Baldurdash patch fixes. His dialogue/description patch and his miscpatch.
Everyone out there who is getting dialogue problems, did you download patches from Baldurdash to fix some problems? maybe the english patch, or the weapons mastery patch, etc.
Kevin says that his patches were not designed to work with TOB, they were Baldur's gate 2 patches, he doesn't even have a copy of TOB to work off of, so chances are the patches, which were great for Baldur's gate 2, aren't so great for the dialogue in BG-TOB.
Now he suggests deleting your dialog.tlk file in your directory and renaming your old dialog.tlk.old file back to dialog.tlk. but I tried that and it didn't work, So i'm going to delete the entire directory, and reinstall BG2 and TOB without any of the patches and see if that fixes the problem.
Ill let you all know what I find out.

SSJ, Trux, Sunder...

Have all of you installed any of the Baldurdash (Kevin Dorner's web site) fixes? Please confirm. If so, you might want to try backing them out of your override folder and restoring (as Therro pointed out) your old Dialogue.tlk file...

Thanks!

The guys on the Black Isle board are saying that it is a problem with Windows 2000. Win2k isn't officially supported and some of the guys did a clean install of SoA and ToB on both W2k and Win 98 SE and Win ME. Worked fine on 98/ME and dialogue bug came up on W2k. I'll let you know more as I get it...

well, it seems like a simple reinstall fixed it. had to reinstall bg2 and tob, so it took about 30 minutes, but i am kicking liberal butt now! so thats the solution, at least it was for me
