what about a dwarven cleric, or do you mean arcane spell casters.

I remember offhand that Clerics and Mages have different saving throws, but (except for poison) I'm pretty sure they're both better than Fighters and Rogues.

Over time, the initial bonuses that Wizards and Rogues have to Save vs. Spells, and that Priests have to Save vs. Death, are overpowered by the way that Warriors simply get bonuses to all their Saves so dang fast. I'll do some number-crunching tonight.

A dwarven cleric starts with a save vs death/poison/paralysis of 10 (a save vs poison of 5 with an 18 CON) making that the best anti-poison save that isn't a kit given immunity in addition to pretty hefty saves vs spells, I'd put my money on a dwarven cleric overpowering other race/classes in most saves.

I am quite sure that the Fighter-class has the best overall saving throws in the game (as SixofSpades has already said).
Although I am not sure about Monk and Barbarian.
As for the race, halflings and dwarves have the best bonuses (with high CON).

A huge selection of spells, the ability to do things like chain contingency 2 ADHW and a heal spell to go off when you reach a certain damage level, spell sequencers with clerical spells like doom on top of greater malison to strip down defenses (or magic resistance + lower resistance to negate the MR of high MR foes) Having the Robe of Vecna or other casting time reducing items stack for both types of spellcasting, etc etc.
