this is my opinion on cernd, hes a wimp. hes the worst NPC in the game. thats my two cents. he may be really useful for you guys for niches, but for my style of game he is a wimp, so i kicked him from my party and killed him.

Ok so i have started with me as specialized mage conjurer, with me is minsc, jaheira and yoshimo. Imoen is gone and the circus tent quest is done. Now with her gone iam a little bit short on magicpower so i need a replacement. I have some guys in mind like viconia and jan, and they should be somewhere in the city so maybe ill take one or maybe both of them with me until imoen rejoins the show. I just didnt decide who to take. Anyway thanks for your advices

Yup - that's who was meant. Believe it or not, by the end of TOB the best word to describe Aerie's ablities is 'frigthening'. Just be pleased that she'll be on your side.

Doh. Must have missed this before. Pure D&D has rules about what levels certain races are allowed to reach--these rules are not carried over into Baldur's Gate. (Even though the Character Creation screen says "Humans are the only race that can play as any class, and advance to any level.") Take it from me: Race is irrelevant when it comes to gaining levels. There ARE no spells (except Druid-only and Wild Mage-only spells) that a Cleric/Mage cannot get, they simply have to wait twice as long to be able to cast them. So, provided you've installed Throne of Bhaal (or at least an EXP cap remover), any Cleric/Mage in your party will eventually be casting every spell in the game. If you're concerned about wanting to cast the high-level spells as soon as possible, just include a pure Wizard (which you say you've done with your conjurer), and let the C/M be your backup. I frequently find that it's good to have a spare, allowing you do do things like cast Web just one second after a Greater Malison, and the like.

But for now, I think you're OK on the Wizard spells: What you need is more Warrior muscle, Minsc and Jaheira aren't going to be able to handle everything on their own. For a 6-person party, this is my ideal mix:

2.5 Warriors
1 Priest (1/2 a Cleric, 1/2 a Druid)
Around 0.75 of a Thief
1.5 Wizards
