Ok this is getting lame. This little witch thing casts fireballs, which tear up my party, and summon more phoenix guards, like it's nobody's business. Yes I know I need to go straight for her. But how do I kill her without being mutilated myself? I'm not taking a few scratches here and there I'm talking up to 3 NPC's chunked and my PC dead. As usual any and all advice would be appreciated. If all else fails I'll have to summon either magic resistance scrolls, or fire resistance scrolls (which don't do much either way. In the mean time I'm going to pass the time with my graphically glorified version of "click the monster" (a.k.a. Diablo II).

6 potions of invisibility or 'invisibility - radius 10foot' works well - that will allow you to get into position before launching your attack. Remember you have to kill her before she gets her first shot off.
And take this 'challenge' as the last of the four - it means that your party should be teleported to the next level right after killing her.

Sounds workable, though I have read that the slime challenge should be last. I'll try the different challenges, and figure out what works.

Okay I've done it. The pheonix mage is dead. I've also cleared the ice room. Now I'm stuck in the air room. My PC keeps getting attacked by the air aspect and getting poisoned, and when I try to cure the poison nothing happens. How can I defeat this room?

I did this room just yesterday myself. What I did was, I equipped my whole party with bows and slings, and memorized as many summon monster and animal spells as my druid and mage could. I then kept my party by the door and summoned the animals between my party and the air aspect, that way the beast concentrated on my summoned fodder while I was free to fire at it with acid and fire arrows.

I leave the Fire room for last, because when any of the Phoenix Guards dies, they explode into a Fireball. So, I kill the Mage, she explodes, and my party members are happily teleported out of there (to the Chess Game) before the Fireball can reach them. Works for me.
My strategy for the Fire room is to just have as many people as possible--even my Tank--fire Ice Arrows. Everybody's on ranged attack, to shoot the woman down before she can do anything. For the Air Aspect, I just stay by the door, shoot the hell out of it with my 5 archers, and glory in my invincible Tank. Defensive Harmony and Chant work well.

Okay the four challenges have been dealt with, and I am now, believe it or not, having some minor problems with the chess board.
1. I start off spouting a small entourage of defensive spells: -Defensive Harmony, Bless, and protection from fear(something like that anyways) 2. I have dynaheir cast a fireball near the edge of my field of vision, which takes out most of the pawns and at least one of the archers. 3. every enemy still alive converges on my position(even the king which I thought was not permited) from there I pretty much lay into the king with everything I have. He dies and so do all his cronies, however only 5 of my 6 survive the encounter. The problem is Minsc who keeps getting killed off by a flame strike from either a bishop or the queen. Should I use a magic protection scroll or hope and pray that one of my many repeat runs will afford him the chance to survive?

do u have any potions of explosions or a necklace of missles? I would rain those down on the board as well. I tried not to move anyone in my party forward at all i just had dynaheir and imoen stand behind my 4 melee fighters and let the battle come to me. You can try focusing on the king but you wont get all the experience for killing everyone else on the board.

Ozzman,
At this point in the game getting a whole bunch of 150 exp is relatively pointless to me. The closer I get to the exp cap the less I care about the exp. But anyways, on a brighter note the magic protection scroll did the trick; Minsc survived and that is what counts for me. P.S.-The world's edge is potentially the hottest 2-handed sword in the game.

One last problem with Durlag's Tower. The Demonknight. I've managed to unleash the mirror. (my entire party is invisible so the demon has no way to attack me) two demon's are there after I unleash the mirror one kills the other, so here's my question. Which demon is the real one the one still alive or the one that died? and how do I survive all the other mirror critters?
