I've just gotten a pretty good raise at work, and I'm thinking of rewarding myself with a new computer.

If I do buy a new PC, is there any way to get my old savegames onto this new computer? I'd hate to start the series over, as I'm currently in Spellhold, and I've played this character since Candlekeep in BGI.

TIA

~computer-challenged krunch

Yes. The BG2 directory should have a folder named "save". Your savegames are there. Copy the games to a stiffie or any other portable media and copy them back into the applicable folder in the new CP.

It's not multiplayer.

My disc drive is shot, and I can't copy it. I'm hoping attaching the files to an e-mail will work.

You can briefly network the two pc's, before getting rid of the old one, and just pass the files across. If there is a problem with this just get two msn accounts and send them over that - on the same internet connection the transfer is instant.

The files are just sitting there on yahoo. If I have to, hopefully I'll be able to pull them up on a new PC.

I'll give this networking thing a shot if it doesn't, but I'll need help doing that!

I also need to update my e-mail, since I got pretty far last night.

I used the email attachment to transfer my games from the old PC to the new a couple of years ago. I gave my old PC to my mom, so one night when we were visiting, I just went into the Saved Games file and chose the ones I wanted to transfer - them mailed them to myself. I only chose a few games, though, since I have dial-up and didn't want to bog down the machine with a big download.
