I have a portrait that I want to use. It's the right dimensions and the right file type, and I'm using nearinfinity/SK to make the swap, but when i swap it it comes up all black with no picture in near infinity, it shows up just fine in SK, and I get that question mark thing in the actual game. Any idea what could be causing this problem?

Take the bmp files, create a directory called Portraits in the baldur's gate directory. Put the files in there, and away you go.

I really hate being asumed a retard. How would I be able to change my portrait in the first place if I hadn't already done what you're suggesting? The portraits are in my portraits folder and override folder(for nearinfinity), My question is why do I get a solid black portrait in NearInfinity, the porrait I'm supposed to have in ShadowKeeper, and that stupid questionmark in the actual game?

I had my own Portrait Issue in the solo game I'm currently playing. I downloaded a Portrait from Ironworks and loaded it into the correct folder (but saved it as a JPG instead of BMP). I got the same Black Box w/Question Mark so I came here and did a Search for "Portraits". I realized I had saved the files as the wrong type and corrected the error - but I STILL got the same Black Box w/Question Mark for some reason. ![]() So if the problem doesn't correct itself, I'd say that it does sound like you have a bug in NearInfinity or the game itself somewhere.

Well at least I'm not alone here. Maybe I will restart some day. Playing the game isn't too pressing of a matter, so it's not a big worry.

Maybe it is like making changes to your Desktop, but you have to ReStart the computer before the changes will actually be put into effect. Just a guess.

Why are you using NI and SK to swap the portrait? If it's for an NPC, simply putting it in the portraits folder with the same name as the NPC's existing portrait should be sufficient. If it's for the Bhaalspawn, there should be an option in your profile, under 'Customize' I think, which will allow you to change your portrait to any in the portraits folder.
