@nightcloak,
well, there are some decent short swords in the game, with ToB, one particular short sword is one of the best weapons in the game. A short sword dual-weilding Kensai can be very deadly as well (even in SoA; look at how deadly Mazzy can be you'll get the picture). Then, into ToB, you can put more proficiency slots into other weapons, I'd suggest Axe (short Axe seems to me is more a dual-weilding weapon than long sword or war hammar). A short sword/Axe dual weilding Kensai will be lethal in ToB.

@TheGodThatFailed,
Paladin with Katana in a party game? guess you don't really care for that particular arguably the most powerful weapon in the game
and...one character gets 80%+ kills in a party game...doesn't seem to be a balanced party to me

kensais can use and throw throwing daggers (and throwing axes and one hammer if you meet the requirements)

so you're in for the item upgrade mod thing...I never install that particular mod since I feel the standard SoA/Tob already provides more than enough powerful and overpowered weapons. That katana even without upgrade is quite overpowered (especially take into consideration how early you can get it in the game)~~ personally, I'll let others (a fighter or a ranger) to use katana and give that sword to my Paladin.

Short Sword of the Mask...it's one of (if not the) my favorite weapons in the game. With Tob installed, you can get it very early in the game at WK. I usually get it when I get to ToB. Without upgrade, it's +4 and has chance to entangle the enemy with a successful hit; after upgrade, it's +5 and adds ability to drain 1 level from the enemy with a successful hit (15% chance). entangle and level drain...in the hands of short sword grandmastered fighters (here's a tweak I like, the grandmastery fix ), it's nasty.

that's ok. that's what I thought; you should've known that sword. Note I didn't say it's better than the katana (especially the modded one) in my post; I was simply pointing out that a short sword weilding Kenasi can be deadly as well.
