And I would like to have it confirmed that it's not a Mac only bit of weirdness.

I have a Gnomish Priest of Helm who is also a thief. Multiclass, first class has a kit. He sees himself as a detective for Helm, that uses his skills to help him in his tasks.

Anyhoo, I learned something very interesting.

My little Gnome could backstab with the Seeking Sword! He had good THAC0 with it, and did a LOT of damage with it when buffed.

Is this normal? Anybody else done this? It just strikes me as being odd. Is it a bug?

I don't think it is a bug after all your gnome is dual classed so he(or she) can use abilities from both classes.... Correct me if i'm wrong

There is a difference between Dualclassing and Multiclassing.

If memory serves me, the Seeking Sword is a Long Sword, hence it should be allowable in backstabs.

I just copied this from www.planetbaldursgate.com

Multiclassed characters are demihumans who choose more than one profession. While this allows a greater range of skills, advancement is slower because experience is divided equally among classes. Not every demihuman race can choose all available multiclasses so refer to the Races page for a listing of available classes by race.

Available multiclasses are: Fighter/Thief, Cleric/Mage, Cleric/Thief, Fighter/Druid, Fighter/Mage, Mage/Thief, Fighter/Cleric, Ranger/Cleric, Fighter/Mage/Cleric, and Fighter/Mage/Thief.

You can use Shadowkeeper to multiclass with a kit.

Seeking sword is a long sword. So you can backstab with it and elves will recieve their racial bonus while using it.
So it is not a bug.
