Anyone here playing BGT?
It has a nice item, the Helm of Sarevok, which protects against INT drain. Along with Lilarcor and Ring of Free action Mind Flayers become annoying little insects.
A bit overpowered IMHO, as it makes Illithid City a mere slaughterfest

Well, I usually have Nalia cast Mordenkainen's Sword, then just send the thingy kill them... other than that, summon a creature, haste it and send it in the room with the little beasts... Some of them would follow, so make the creature you summoned come back to you and kill the Mind Flayers that have followed it (but don't forget to buff up your party with protection spells )

NOW I really hate them.
I was playing F/M no reloads and finished all the quests before going to spellhold and the one which is behind the painted doors in Spellhold mazed me !

Argh ...

Going with F/M/C next. Chaotic Commands is a must.

Chaos is something different; Chaos is a level 5 Wizard spell, whereas Chaotic Commands is a level 5 Priest spell.

Chaos is almost the same as the 4th level spell "Confusion". It will confuse the target, so that it will attack both enemy or foe, or it will not attack anyone and wander around aimlessly.

Chaotic Commands makes a creature immune to magical commands, such as Charm, Domination, Sleep, Confusion etc.

I used Valygar, boots of speed, Celestial Fury (big damage), Shield of Harmony (can't be dominated), and Ilbratha (can't be held) on weapon switch. The CF+speed allowed me to "cheese" through vast swaths of the game. Harmony and Ilbratha was special gear for mind flayers.

Everyone else gathered some place safe. Valygar stealths, goes in, backstabs with CF, -immediately- runs away if CF fails to stun the flayer. As soon as he's back out of sight, re-stealth. If the flayer or flayers throw any psionics at him, I quickly pause and switch to Ilbratha and keep running. Sometimes flayers/hulks would block a corridor so that I couldn't get behind to backstab; so I'd just frontstab (heh) and run as before.

I also used him to lure flayers out of the fluid chamber (where they spawn every minute) to doors I need them to open, before collaring them. (If he didn't lure them, sometimes the domination was wearing off before the flayer could walk all the way there.)

I never cast Chaotic Commands in my first SoA run. (Though to be fair there were a few points where it would have helped a lot.)
