Ribald's casting spells...

I was in adventurers mart, dumping some treasure, and looking to pick up some scrolls and potions that I wanted, and it so happened that my character was prepared to level up as a theif, and I felt that after this level, he was decent enough as a theif, and should start working on his abilities as a mage. So I dual-ed him. Lo and behold, the second I dual him, Ribald casts true sight. That's it. Nothing else. Anybody know why he'd do this?

hmm - i don't know - he casts true sight if you go in there stealthed i know - you may have discovered a new bug-let?

Do you have Improved Mages from Tactics installed?

Nope. I've got SoA, with the official patch, and the bonus merchants. That's all. Oh, and I reloaded, and tried it again, just to see if I had done somthing to provoke him, but it happened again, just the same.

Ribald is a mage of some repute, don't know his exact class but he does has access to arcane spells. Why else do you think he buffs up with the tactics mod installed? Or appears in IWDII as a bonus merchant just-like-that?

Ribald is a Chaotic Neutral, half-elf, fighter/mage level 11/12.

Well, that's great for ribald, and I managed to figure out that he was probably a mage ;] But I was just wondering what reasons he would have for just casting a spell, out of the blue, when I dual-classed in his shop.

It was the same for me,But i had Tatctik mode.The one that guardes the harper building in the docks did do all kind of protection spells on him (Stone skin and more).And no one in the area was hostile so i Wondered whye does he do all theese protection spells?.It was the same whit ribald.So IF you dount got tactic mode then it is a bug,Didnt see anything like that befor i instaled tactic mode.
