WTC1 is now above the 28th floor. Roughly a floor every 7-10 days now... Really coming along. The two massive footprints of the old towers are 97% finished, and are all tiled with onyx looking stone. (Looks like the right footprint fountain is undergoing water leak testing!!)
It's coming along nicely. The memorial is in 3 small buildings around the old footprints, and underground.. (That yellow pic is just a funny pic I found) ![]() |

Okay, first of all, lol@yellow pic. Secondly, just what was it that took so long to do this?

Yeah, took way too long, but there was red tape due to the financing of buildings, the redesigning of the site--went through 4 redesigns, then they had to deal with the memorial and families that wanted things changed and stuff..
But since 2005, it's been under construction--Most of the hard work is underground. They gotta reset and reinforce the slurry walls, seal them, and add a second wall even. Then they lay the cables for power, etc then water pipes, sewage and they had to build that temp subway station (far left middle bottom of image 4).. But yeah, I wish they started earlier. But it sure is coming along nicely finally. They are actually going to install the curtain wall (glass) this month.. beginning at the bottom areas. (That huge concrete wall inside WTC1 in pic 2 is a massive blast wall BTW). The first 10 floors (in red steel--which is heavy fireproofing paint) are built like a cage with 3 redundancies. The sucker is built like a fortress! |

Yes, just seemes like it took forever and a day.
Also, I can't see the mosque in any of these pics. Something is terribly wrong.

Well, talking about elongated time tables, WWII took 4 years, and the GWOT is entering it's 10th.
Maybe the hawks in DC finally got smart and just started a war that will be permanent and forever. Full employment act for Halliburton! |
