Just finished two books this last week

Nine Dragons - Michael Connelly's latest Harry Bosch thriller.

As usual Connely with his crime fighting creation Harry Bosch are just wonderfull crime thrillers. There must be about 15 or so in the series and there is not a dud amongst them. This one left the usual streets of LA which he describes so well (though I have never been) and spends time in Hong Kong (which I do know but could not connect with) but which ended up being the weakest part of the book. Not the best book in the series but still very enjoyable and all are worth investing some time with and I'm sure you will become addicted to his stories like me.



A Short History of Nearly Everything - Bill Bryson

I have read most if not all of Brysons humerous travel books and I like his writing style and his funny observations but this book could not be further left field. Its a book about science and the intresting stories of not just fantastic discoveries but the sometimes weird and outragous characters behind them. This book is not just for nerds but for those who can enjoy science and yet want to be entertained at the same time.

Chris Ayres - War Reporting for Cowards

His account of his journalistic career, his cowardice, and the nine days he spent as an embed in Iraq at the beginning of the war. Not a book that I would normally pick up, but it was given to me so I thought I'd give it a crack. I must say that I found the whole thing absolutely hilarious.

Tim Waggoner- Theives of Blood (Blade Of The Flame Book 1)

Diran was once one of the most feared assasins in the land. But he has turned his back on murder, seeking the life of a wandering priest. But in a rough port town on the edge of the world, his past is about to catch up to him.

Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. That book was absolutely amazing.

All the books Carl Sagan wrote were pretty awesome as well. The man was a genius.

Currently I'm about to start reading Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. I hear it is quite good.

The Iliad. I think I've been trying to read it for... 5 months now? Only just got half way through.

Anything by Matthew Reilly, especially the Wonders series. Loved them, recommend them for anybody who likes non-stop action.

Someone told me they were good & I have seen some on EBAY to purchase.

Still running on a biography kick, as I have been for the last couple of years. Recent biographies that I enjoyed include:

• Eric Clapton
• George Harrison
• Charles Schulz
• Jackie Robinson (currently reading)
• Clint Eastwood
• Johnny Carson

Ones I didn't enjoy...

• Patti Boyd (ex-wife of Harrison and Clapton, and the real "Layla")
• Douglas Adams (biographer tried to write like him... failed)
• Zane Grey (western author)

Has any one on here read "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson ?

I believe the film of it is about to come out but do yourself a favour and read the book first. One of my favourite novels, a truly compelling page turner and is already being talked about as an all time classic / top 100 novel of all timeby those in the industry.

I didn't want to ask questions about books in fear of standing out and derailing Wellard's thread, but seeing as others have already (Plus I don't mind pissing off wellard i'll ask )

I recently had the Starcraft and first two Warcraft Archive book sets delivered and was wondering which to delve into first based on peoples impressions.

I have a firm grasp of the content and don't mind if the order is slightly mixed but want to start off on a good note so i'm not discouraged to keep going.
