http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/ Run it for a bit.. and watch the temps. a 6600 idles at 32-38c. its off-point is 63c The core of the CPU can warp over time... or its probably just dying. The 6600 is a GREAT chip--and great to overclock. I ran one at 3.2 forever. Its GOTTA be the cpu.. You can get the 3.06Ghz still. Its $98 Newegg rocks! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-347-_-Product Or for $84 Dual-Core E6500 Wolfdale 2.93GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116093 Let us know what happens! (If you can borrow a cpu for the LGA775 that would rule it in or out) |

so Intel may warranty my old Q6600, I have to get them the numbers off the chip and see what happens.
in the meantime, since I now have working spare parts and my oldest needs a computer I'm looking at either going with the old q chip from intel: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id...es=SL9UM,SLACR or doing a small upgrade to the q9400 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id...ec-codes=SLB6B What ya think? |
