XThost is up again. I already uploaded my design...
I did not yet post the tutorial (I wonder if I can finish it until the 20th, but it would anyway need too much space...).

I actually had to remove stuff already from my XT Host site, as I found myself right at the limit (actually over)

I still have about 3 months worth of work to do to finish my entry; maybe 3 weeks worth of work to make it minimally playable... Plus, I haven't even thought of the trap part yet...but I do have a nifty hidden area that uses secret passages.

Shall I send a personal message to all other contestants on Dec 20th where to find the design on my homepage? Would probably be the easiest way...

Even if they're not finished? (I hope so.)

I think this sounds like a good plan.

And anyone else can do it the same way and if you don't have your own site, let us know and we can work something out.

I don't have a website, so if you insist on getting your hands on my entry by december 20th, I'd need an address to send it to.

Btw, is anyone beside Dinonykos anywhere near completion or will all entries just be "Under Construction" mods?

I *might* get my mod done until Sunday if I invest a lot of time now and decide it's going to be very short and small scale. But I probably won't have any tutorials to show because (a) I haven't got the time to write them, (b) I didn't do anything complicated and for the stuff I needed a Logic Block event for I only followed what manikus describes in his already existing tutorial.

Do you have any estimates on the size of the archive for your design?

I haven't decided if I will release an "under construction" design yet. I guess it depends on how "under construction" it is.

With the actual size of my design folder the archive would be about 20mb. I'll still add to it but it also contains a lot of obsolete files, maybe even a few .bmp and .wav files I don't intend to use or that could be converted into .png and .mp3, so my guess is it will be a little less than 20mb rather than more. Hm, still too much to send it via my yahoo mail account...

Anyway, *if* I manage to meet the deadline I'll probably consider the design finished (that's positive thinking!). In any case, I won't be able to work on it between the 20th and the second week of january, and even after that I've got to set other priorities, so if I don't meet the deadline exactly, I guess I'm out of contest...

Definitely too big to email, Olivier.

Here are the options (unless anyone can think of any more):
Start a web site - XT Host is incredibly easy, free and doesn't require you to give out any personal info. You would just need to claim a site and upload your file, no actual page making would need be done.
I can start a "DC Contest" Yahoo group for you to upload to (after you've joined the group). This would give us a place for others as well, if they don't have their own sites.
Have your archiver program create a multi-part file so it can be emailed over the span of several emails.

The first and second seem the best. It would be no problem for me to set up the Yahoo group, but I'm only going to do it if needed.

Well, my tutorial will probably not be complete on Dec 20th, I admit, at least if I want to keep it as detailed during its second part as the first part is.... I wil rather upload the tutorial/send it to the other contestants during the X-mas days...
And my design... well, neither voice acting nor "animated" sprites made it into it, and some opponents I drew and scanned do also not appear in the current version...

Maybe, there will be a Friedrich's Quest Gold Edition in a few months...

So... we remain strict though, right? Even if apparantly noone - not even Dinonykos - is really happy with what they could release on dec 20th?
