Dude just to be clear were not talking about the wanna-be boyz in the hood type down around the border area. We are talking true cold blooded killers. The type of Gangsters who do it for money AND fun.

Your probably right more silly beuracracy won't stop them from getting guns but as far as govenrment action goes it sounds like a mere inconvience for legit gun-owners.

In a time where the Fed just stole +30 million from more than 24,000 poker playing citizens, still locks people up for years for growing a righteous plant, and tells people who they can and can't marry- I dont really care if gun owners are inconvienced. Bigger issues of liberty are at stake.

I said it once, and I say it again. I still don't see any reason whatsoever for people to own guns and have gunshops on every street corner - other than the British invading with muskets of course.

Well, there's the whole idea that if you own a gun you'll be more prepared to stop a criminal from burglarizing your home, self-defense, etc.

There are issues with this mentality, and if you don't train extensively in the use of firearms under high-stress conditions, you could potentially put yourself in more danger for having one than you would have been without it. If a criminal sees you have a gun, you just became his first target, are you ready to defend yourself?

A baseball bat, a golfclub or even a taser gun if you want one, can defend your home against burglars. With these weapons you can subdue someone without wondering if you killed them as much. Then of course, there's burglar alarms.

Most of Europe ban guns and they get along just fine. Think about how the level of threat drops when you envision a kid walking into a school wielding a baseball bat as opposed to a loaded gun. I think they cause alot more problems than they solve, and there are working examples all over the world to prove it.

I'm fairly ambivalent about gun-ownership. It's not practical to try and ban them in the U.S. due to sheer quantity for one rationale alone. I respect an individual's right to practise self-defense even if I think methods like a handgun are generally foolish due to the risks.

What I think should be discredited is the use of the issue as a wedge of political division. Guns aren't going to be banned, and the vocal minority on the Left needs to stop trying to make them that way. The vocal minority on the Right needs to stop acting like petulant children when their fellow citizens wisely prohibit items like over-sized clips or require common-sense registry.

This "issue" has vast middle/common ground once the extremist views are abandonded.

I know you are concerned about our precious 2nd amendment rights, but let's not confuse a personal right with Gun-Running. Gun-Running should be reserved for approved Government agencies......you know, Iran-Contra...that sort of thing! Love you Felix!
when was the last time you read about a harden criminal being caught with a legally bought gun, bought and registered in thier name? Hale I can buy several guns right now out of the trunk of some puke's car. And I can gar'runtee there will be not paper work filed on them. So your paper work fil'n is useless and won't stop squat.

John D, I think maybe you skipped over some of the conversation. You should maybe go back and reread a little more thoroughly.

Nah I didn't skip anything I was adressing the fact that going after the people that buy legal guns won't get those who buy illegal guns. By definition an ilegal gun is one that doesn't have a paper trail to it. Less then 10% of the guns that are confiscated in Mexico can be traced back to the USA. Folks may want to REREAD the figures given. But I don't need to reread anything. It's 70-75% of the guns that CAN BE TRACED, and less then 15% the TOTAL guns confiscated CAN BE TRACED. If'n anyone thinks a Mexican Drug gang that is making millions of Dollars is going to buy legal USA SEMI automatic hands guns from the USA instead fully automactic asault rifles from arms deals all around the world. Well they got a screw loose. And If they (the Mexican drug gangs) are that stupid then I'm in the wrong line of work. I can take over the entire drug business in about 3 weeks.

I had a friend and my sister-in-laws brother killed by the SOB's, he was running drugs for a rival gang.
