I had major difficulties at finding the path as well at my first game. The place you are looking for on the top-right corner of the area. The graphics are dark so it may help to ajust your monitor light higher. The way is up from the bridge at the right side of the map. Just stay left side from the bridge walk up and try every little inch from the map to find it.

I have a problem with that though. See, Gnomes are supposed to talk really really fast, and when you read it it looks like all the words are connected . So they must have evolved wierd or something...

It is very hard to get there, because so many rocks and debris are in the way, and it is very dark. Just go as far right as you can, and walk along the border until you find a path further right. You must be outside of the Svirfneblin Village to do this. This should be 100% foolproof.

HELP HELP HELP so far none of you have helped very much.

Geeze, ingracious a little?

As an alternative to the nagivation methods the others have suggested: If you can't navigate the map, tweak your graphics/display settings. Adjust brightness, contrast, or gamma until everything's visible. This is very effective on maps where darkness obscures map features, as in the Underdark. The more you see, the less you miss.

Beastmaster is indeed the kit which gets Find Familiar, but it is a ranger kit...
