I realize that there are threads like this, but I'd rather start a new one than bring back one that's three years old.

I was wondering if Grandmastery in crossbow was worth taking (Baldurdash and EoU installed). I love the look of the crossbow

There should be a Crossbowman subclass for the Archer...can only GM in crossbow, and the Archer can only GM in bows. But, I digress.

Oh, and a final question. How does the speed of the Firetooth crossbow compare to the non-Tuigan bows?

I wouldn't recommend them, they're too slow so I usually go with the Long/Short bow, Gesen is a good choice for disrupting a mage's spells with the electrical damage.

You get Gesen too late into the game...I suppose Tuigan+Quiver of Plenty can serve until then, but an enormous red hand cannon is so much more intimidating, don't you think so?

What is faster, Gesen (with normal arrows, the lightning is so slooow) or Firetooth? Firetooth's fire damage should serve just as well as Gesen's electrical, should it not?

i wouldn't recommend the crossbow either.

[b]crossbows: has more damage than bows, but has less speed than bows.
bows: has less damage than crossbows, but has more damage than crossbows.

You do realize that you get Gesen before Tuigan and the Quiver of Plenty right?

Gesen fires quicker, from what I've seen anyway. The only crossbows that I would go with (which I have) are the Crossbows of Speed, gets more shots off in a round.

It isn't too hard, only a few mephits and shadows (Vampiric..bah), and then some Orogs, to get the Quiver. It's actually pretty easy. The Case of Plenty is even easier to get, no Orogs.

Hm. In that case, are there any ways to speed the X-bow RoF up, other than GWW? Items and such.

Off to get some rest, before I say any more stupid things.

Pyrenk,

The Firetooth has a speed factor of 1, which is only matched by 1 (upgraded) bow.

The light crossbow of speed would be good in basic SOA, teamed up with some of the nice bolts that always accrue, but I prefer to save the gold until the red hand cannon is available

Personally I leave the xbows to Jan and Keldorn

Boots of Speed is just off the top of my head right now, other than that, I'm not too sure.
