Maybe you could instaid of a fightermage use a bard it's actually a multiclass fighter (it can use any weapon) mage thief but it also has the advantage of being a good lore haver (u know what i mean)
And if it's possible make a ranger-cleric (mir-ror said it wasn't possible but i'm smarter so) for then you will have both druidspells->ranger and cleric spells -> cleric

1)Adhrael i think too that the non pause inventory in MP is cheating and i only use it to swap the bow with the shield cause in no way nobody could convince me that my expert fighter couldnt instantly leave his bow and grab his shield!!
2)Ricard as for the bards they have many limitations..such as: Human and Half-Elf only, must be of partially neutral
alignment, can use any weapon/shield/armor other than Composite
Long Bow, Throwing Axe, Small Shield, Medium Shield, Large Shield,
Splint Mail, Plate Mail and Full Plate.the only one they are usefull is the high lore/pick pocket...
3)For all!! In the Dark Side of the Sword Coast u find some really cool items for bards relatively early in the game..so with them bard may be usefull!!

I have never used a bard and I think they SUCK.

Well, after this blunty prologue i´ll say that I started a bard to look how is he and found out (i should be wrong) that they can´t use armors, cause if they wear one they can´t use spells and they can´t use mage robes.

Ajantis-Paladin
Branwyn-Cleric
Corran-Thief/Fighter
Minsc-Ranger
Dynaheir-Conjurer, or whatever specialist mage she was

I liked that party the best anyway.

Myself (Bard)
Minsc (Ranger)
Ajantis (Paladin)
Imoen (Thief)
Kivan (Ranger)
Yorick (Cleric/Fighter)

just make a multiplayer and transport it to single player so you ca'n make your own party like mine
